I just noticed that I was getting 5% cb for USPS spending with continental business checking debit card. Until today, I had no idea about this and my banker had never mentioned about it when I opened it 2 weeks ago. I just felt there must be more like this but could not find the info from anywhere in Chase web.

Anybody with any other rebates infomation with this account? Please share the info... Thanks.

I have opened one personal account and accounts for each of two LLCs I have. I got 42k miles and a partner got 21k. It's been 21k forever, so I don't think I'd hold out for 4k more. They did post surprisingly quickly.

They don't allow churning from what I can tell, but any person/entity with their own SSN/EIN can open an account. Theoretically, you could start an LLC, get an EIN, and open an account for that.

Thanks to both Happy and you.

Looks like my old WAMU account will need DD as well after Feb.

The way I see it, time to close all accounts. I never really used them, although their billpay is much better than chaos Citi (why would anyone use Citi if not for AA bonus is beyond me). But I use other institutions for bill pay. Chase is way too big and dominant in my opinion and we should support smaller banks.

Chase will make a lot of money in the first month of the change from all those people who will be unaware of it and then will be left with just active accounts.

If chase comes with is a new bonus I will open it and do a $500 ACH.

The BIG question is if we will be able to open the CO accounts one more time in Jan.

Hi

more confused than ever,

if I sign up for a personal Chase checking account , which one of the ones above will I get ?

Chase Free Extra -> Chase Total Checking
Chase Free Classic -> Chase Total Checking
Chase Basic Checking -> Chase Total Checking
Chase Better Banking -> Chase Total Checking or another one ?

Do I need to keep it open for 6 months to get the miles ?

I am just wondering if the the new fees are going to make the miles cost too much ?

any opinions ?

thanks Rally

After exhaustively reviewing this thread, was there ever a final word if this offer can be applied to minors/children?

Thanks in advance.

If you went in to the branch or online TODAY and opened an account, you would get the Chase Checking, which currently requires only either 5 debit card (non-pin) purchases OR a direct deposit (of any amount) once a month to waive the monthly fee. Come Feb 2011, the Chase Checking (that you are about to open), will be GRANDFATHERED with 1 change. The NEW requirement to waive the monthly fee at that time will be either 5 debit card (non-pin) purchases OR a direct deposit of $500 or greater once a month. Also, yes you HAVE to keep the account open for 6 months or Chase may take back the bonus miles. Hope that helps.

I haven seen this "6 months or miles taken back" being mentioned a lot here but I can't find it in any offer terms or conditions. Chase's website only mentions a "early closure fee" if close within 90 days.

Did that "miles taken back" actually happen for biz checking account or it's just a guess and being prudent?

be careful and DO NOT accept any offer for savings account...they always seem to want to con you into a joint savings. There is no benefit and I have been getting charge maintainance fees on it....what a rip

churning the checking acct

I have noticed on my first personal and checking opening in october, that Chase dumped the miles in other new Continental Onepass accounts....so i have had to track them down and merge.

I wonder if you churned into a new account, additional bonus miles would get dumped again into another new Onepass acct...adding to the likelyhood that you would get those bonus miles.....in other words, dont give them your original onepass acct number (pretend you are new to CO).

on another note....it seems clear you have to keep account open for 90 days....how quickly are people successfully opening a new one AND receiving the bonus miles?
Are you waiting 6 months from the original opening?

Chase knows whether or not you've opened a checking account under this promo because it's tied back to you social security number, not your OnePass number. Good idea, but your scenario wouldn't work.

another warning

make sure you deposit money opening the acct from outside chase.

moron banker told me i could just transfer from my other chase acct. now as I have been tracking down missing miles, they are trying to tell me that because the opening deposit came from within chase, i dont qualify for the first 10k.....what a screw job.

trying to get in touch with manager to complain...and get the 10k..we'll see

I opened a new checking account pursuant to this offer a few weeks ago and have already made the five debit card purchases required to get all the miles.

However, I went back to the offer page today, and one of the terms is "This bonus mile offer is not available to customers with an existing Chase checking account." I could have sworn I read the full offer several times before I signed up and that this term was not present. Is this something new?
