For those we did the online signup, how long does it take for you to receive the debit card with continental OnePass number? I am trying to see whether I can catch the last train of the Continental Mileathon.. thanks!

continental debit card fee

I just opened my Chase checking account with this promo last Thursday. And among all the confirmantion paperwork that the banker gave me I have noticed that the debit card fee of $25 will be billed from my account next month. What is that all about???!!!
From what I was understanding from reading this thread the fee wasnt supposed to be billed for a while, and I was planning on closing the account after 6 months anyway.
Is there a way for me to avoid the fee??? I was planning on contacting the banker first to ask her if there was any way to avoid the fee. Or is there a better way to go about it? Call Chase Continental debit card 1800 Number???
I really want to save my $25 if at all possible!
Thanks!

There's no way to avoid the $25 debit card fee if you want to get the Continental OnePass miles. It should be on your 2nd statement.

Speaking of Mileathon, I just noticed that the requirement for Debit/Credit card has an additional clause of "the first purchase must be made before 5/31" while the entire promo run until 6/30, is it normal for Continental to have separate restriction on certain/selected activies during some promo (sorry, I am very new to Continental, and just start to pay attention due to its merge to UA)?

Thanks

the t&c's say 6 months.

I'm looking at the offer page, and I don't see any mention of this. Where are you guys referencing the 6 months from?

It is specifically on the letter you receive as a receipt for the 10,000 bonus miles portion of the personal account.

It states: "The checking account must remain open for a minimum of six months or the 10,000 miles will be debited from the account at closing."

AFIK That only appears in regards to the 10,000 bonus miles portion of the personal account, for setting up direct deposit or making 5 debit card purchases within 60 days of account opening.

Does anyone have any more of the older codes with a May 31st expiry date and 25K instead of 10K for current customers? I'm desperate- customer rep told me that if I don't give them one I will only get 10K!

Anyone???? Send me a PM!

Wow. Sure, I would like to save $25 as much as the next guy...but, it's not THAT big of a deal (especially for the number of miles involved), right??!!??!!??!!??!!??!!

Welcome to Flyertalk!

Given the option to get 25,000 miles for $25, I am more than happy to pay the $25. I even paid $65 (twice, this year and last year) for the business accounts to get 2 x 25K miles.

Seriously, given the $25 is clearly stated on the coupon, why would you expect to have the fee waived?

Ok, Im really new to all of this and I just wasnt sure if the debit card fee could be waived for the first year just like some credit cards, that's all. I already spoke to my banker and she confirmed that the fee couldnt be waived.

I am planning to pop into my local Chase branch today to open the checking account with the debit card - hoping to snag the mileathon bonus.

Question: Do they issue the debit card on the spot, or do they mail it to you a week later?

I'd like to get my "first use" in today if possible, but that obviously won't be an option if I have to wait for them to mail it to me...

I've gotten 4 the past couple of years (2 Personal & 2 Biz) and they were all mailed. Took about a week to get them.

They will mail the card to you with your name embossed. So you will have to wait to use it.
