So on the business accounts I do not see any language about 6 or 12 months.

yes ok I'm seeing the "6 months minimum" on the checking e-receipt and nothing on the business. Anyway it won't bother to keep the business for a year.
but thank you for that detony

Opened personal accounts for wife and I online yesterday, got the two confirmations at the end for the 25k miles - easy as pie. Now just to wait to see if they somehow find our OnePass numbers or if they make new ones.

Regarding the business accounts - I've read mixed reports of being able to use your SSN as a sole proprietorship, while others need an EIN, etc. Problem is I live in VA and no branches nearby. If I call a random branch or the 800 number for Chase will they let me apply if my "business" (eBay!) isn't really located in one of the states that Chase lists online for business accounts? I did try and apply online for the Business Classic account but the system said they don't offer that product in my state. Sorry if this was covered earlier, my searches only turned up mixed information :(.

Edit: Chase website for Business Classic account info states that account is only available in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KY, LA, MI, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, TX, UT, WA, WI, WV. I live in VA, so am I out of luck?

opened new account

My wife and I went in and opened 2 new accounts the other day, using the 25000 mile offer. A couple things different from when I opened an account last year. I thought I should check to see if things have changed, or if I just had a newbie who screwed my new account up.
First of all, he said I couldnt get the debit card with the $25 annual fee, that only the $65 annual fee card showed as eligible for this kind of account. When he went back and tried to pick the lower fee card, he said it didnt come up under this particular promotion. Is this true? Last time I was able to pick the lower fee card.
Then with the paperwork, there was only mention of getting 10000 miles, and no mention of the other 15000. I remember last time it broke down the numbers and showed how and when I'd be getting all 25000.
Thanks for any input.

I tried to haggle for the lower $25 card or get the fee waived for the first year but no luck... got the $65 card and a printout that shows 10k and 15k as promo.

the 10k is for opening an account and making 5 debit card transactions

the 15k is for $65 debit card

csr tried to pull off the same thing with me to push the higher fee debit card so I read them the terms and conditions which clearly state that the lower fee debit card qualifies for the miles. Stand firm!

It was also funny that the csr told me I may not get the miles as I closed checking accounts recently and told me once per calendar year...I kindly told her the definitions of calendar vs fiscal years:)

If it was a personal account the $25 card is absolutely good for the promotion even though the big print implies you need the $65 card. It's all in the small print. No haggling about it. Those are the rules. $25 card is fine. If the banker said otherwise, they were flat out wrong.

Only the business account requires the $65 card.

I sure am glad I signed up online - very quick, no hassles at all and 22,500 of my miles posted within a month. I wonder if those of you who live where Chase has a physical branch can sign up online or is that a no-no. Chase has no branches in my state.

Any speculation as to whether this offer will be extended beyond June 30, 2010?

Yeah they gave my step-dad similar grief and we quit.

OP account #

when you go and apply make sure you have your one pass number with you...they have a place to input it on the application form, which will eliminate the hassles of new accounts being created or problems applying the points to your account.
personal accounts have a choice of $25 or $65 cards, business accounts only the $65 card.
Make sure you get the print out of the e-coupon verification for the bonus points...there is one for 10,000 for opening account and one for 15000 for making 5 debit card signature purchases in first 60 days (12500 from chase, 2500 from continental) each of these papers has a confimation number that is your only way to prove that you signed up for the bonus points, and lets them track what happens with them...no paper=no proof and they can say you already got them, didnt sign up for that, or anything else they feel like. If your csr cant print them for you he didnt set up the account and use the coupon properly, dont leave without them!!

Thanks for the replies, as it gave me the ammo to call them back and hopefully fix the situation.
I talked to a more senior banker, and he said that they had a couple people in the past complaining about not get points when they signed up for the $25 card. So he took it upon himself then to only offer the $65 card to people when opening these accounts. I guess the business accounts which require the $65 confused them.
He said that we were signed up for all 25000 points but he couldnt explain why the other sheet never got printed and put into our paperwork. He is supposed to be printing out that confirmation as well as changing our cards back to the $25 ones. Lets see how all of this goes now.
Appreciate the advice and hope all ends well. Next time applying online! (wasnt aware I could before)

Dunno with merger...but it is a moot point, since it is once per calendar year bonus.

Opened my '10 acct yesterday in a branch

got some of the run around , no problem with getting the $25 DC although he did mention the Perferred one and not the Reg one till I asked about it.

Got both pages for tracking for a total of 25k

he clicked off no checks w/o me saying anything, he finally understood I wasnt buying anything more then the min I had to and once he knew that it was clear sailing

Two questions:

Can this offer be applied online, I don't have any chase here ( If yes then then could somebody post the link)

Secondly, Does applying for 25$ debit card causes hard inquiry? I think for checking account should not be hard.

Thanks.

Okay, its FT giveback time.

Good experience opening two checking accts at Chase just a few days ago with printed out coupons.

Opened biz acct first with cust serve lady, then sent to branch mgr to open pers acct (Chase is apparently very specialized).

Mgr told me that I could get an upgrade two tiers from regular checking because I already had a biz acct. Of course, had just opened it ten minutes ago, but didn't seem to matter. ^

Upgrade is good because no monthly fees--so long as biz acct is kept open.

Got $65 debit card to go with biz acct (this would be a super-rip fee if it weren't for the 25K bonus Continental miles), and, apparently, I get 2.5K additional bonus miles at first use of card.

Also, took $25 Continental debit card with pers acct, again with 2.5K bonus miles at first use. Mgr at first tried to urge no fee debit card on pers acct since I already had biz miles card, but, close reading of offer made it clear $25 card was needed to get all the miles.

So, I am waiting for 55K in bonus miles. :D

Thanks FTers!
