Well, the miles were posted later than they expected too.
Why say "no later than Nov 9th" when you have no idea what date it may be? I guess they overpromised and underdelivered.
An additional 25K miles would be nice, yes. :p

So the CSR made a mistake, or the batch processing did not happen as scheduled, or the moon did not come out to make it happen... So what? They did not purposely promise you, they went by what the system said it would. SNAFU happened, even Space Shuttle has had TWO fatal accidents... And you consider this underdelivered?

You got all the miles you should have gotten. What ground you have to complain? If it is straightly going by the Ts and Cs, you should not see the bonuses until 6 to 8 weeks after account opened / conditions fulfilled.

I know it has been discussed in the past but wonder if anyone has any recent experiences. I want to open a biz checking account however I live in VA, a state with no branches. I know it cannot be done online. However we'll be traveling over the holidays to two states that do have Chase branches. Will we be able to open accounts there? Has anyone else in this same scenario done so?

It depends on that state's banking regulations. Some states require a business license or similar documents to open a business bank account, some dont. This is something you need to research yourself. On top of that, you have the address issue to deal with. I am not sure the bank would be willing to open a business account with an out of state address.

Okay people. If any of you have been sitting on the fence regarding this offer, it appears now is the time to jump in. It has been reported that as of February 2011, chase will no longer offer reward debit cards for new accounts. In addition, for those with existing debit cards the perk of free checked bags is going away as of April 1, 2011 as well. Here is a link to a thread in the CO forum that has more details:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/conti...ebit-card.html

As I stated in that thread I am holding out hope of 1 last extension of the existing offer into 2011. If it doesn't come in early January this one may die off (or at least be significantly reduced and only offer a bonus for opening a checking account).

i opened biz and personal accounts in early may. rec'd all my miles. if i recall u had to keep the accounts open for 6 months. I can't find any documentation on that though. Does anyone know if this is correct?

onthego15 Dec 2, 2010 1:09 pm

Yes, 6 months is correct. I also opened my account in early May, and closed yesterday.

Oh no, I think I screwed up.

I opened an account but only made an initial deposit of $25 instead of the $100 in the T&C. There will be a $250 direct deposit 2x a month starting on 12/15. Did I just lose 10K miles?

Most likely not. Chase's system usually just looks for it to be over $100 during the 60 day period along with other requirements (ie. direct deposit or 5 debit card purchases). So, when your dir dep posts for $250, it will make your balance $275, which should trigger both the $100 balance requirement and the dir dep requirement. Good luck and let us know how it goes... Thanks.

I did the exact same thing (I think I even posted about it above).

I emailed, and they told me I had a period of time. You might want to email also - that way there's a trail.

Anyway, I deposited another few hundred dollars, and today I have all of my miles.

Do I have to cancel/close my accounts within this calendar year if I want to do this again next year? My account was opened sometime in Aug so the 6 month anniversary would be in 2011. I'd also like to keep my Chase account if possible.

Similar question, I opened my Biz account in late Aug, so it's over 3 months now. What I found from Chase's webiste is saying that you need to wait 90 days, or they will charge you a fee. I don't see this "180 days or miles will be taken back" anywhere in the terms.

I want to close everything in 2010, so 2011 will have a brand new start for whatever promo Chase will have.

Happy Dec 3, 2010 7:46 pm

From what have been reported so far, it seems when the accounts closed have nothing to do with whether you get the new sign up bonus or not.

There were issues for folks who opened their accounts in Dec 2009, and the bonuses posted in early 2010 - this seemed to prevent them getting bonus on their new set of accounts opened later in 2010 but a call to that specific phone number (not regular Chase number) seemed to all straight up the matter.

If your bonuses posted in 2010, I wouldn't worry about it would interfere with future promotion in 2011.

Besides, rumors have been, Chase would not offer similar type of promo in 2011.

We have received 2 different Surveys from Chase (for 1000 CO miles). From the contents (they were totally different) it look to me Chase is testing other concepts of promotion and none of it would have sign up bonuses like we have enjoyed so far.

On top of that, you may want to tread carefully with opening / closing Chase accounts. You dont want to find yourself on the bad side of Chase and be banned from getting on any future lucrative promo.

I just opened my account yesterday. The CSR told me that beginning Feb 2011, the minimum direct deposit requirement is $500. Is that per deposit or per month? I ask because my employer deposits my paycheck twice per month. So, if it's per month, then each direct deposit will only need to be $250. Thanks!

They will NOT add them up. Basically, it doesn't matter if your direct deposit hits 1 time, 2 times, 3 times, 4 times a month, AT LEAST 1 of them HAS to be over $500 to waive the fee.
