[QUOTE=Marathon Man;15054353]has anyone else experienced this?

I got my new Chase debit card today and wanted to activate it over the phone.

1) it gives an 866 number on the sticker and also says one could use it once in the ATM, but I do not yet have the pin so I have to wait. When I called, that line would not work.

2) I called the 800# on the back of the card and that said "all circuits busy"

3) i used the Chat service Chase has and the rep there said to try that same number but he could do nothing else on his end.

4) I even tried the area code number on back of the card and it is out of service as well.

Hey, I just got the debit cards today and called the 866 number to activate. Had no problem. Must have been a temporary glitch. So tomorrow I'll load my T pass six times (x 2).

Another data point: Got the first bill for my new Chase/Continental credit card, and the $100 I charged to fund one of the checking accounts went through as a Purchase.

Newbie question - close down acct, open next year?

Folks,
I'm a relative newbie to FT. I've tried to read this entire thread - but I still have one or two questions. I'm sure many other folks have doubts regarding these questions too.

1) I opened a CO checking account and got the 25k miles bonus early this year. Should I close the account and wait for Chase to come out with a new promo so that I can get another 25k miles next year?

2) This offer has been going on for a while, so is it safe to assume Chase will continue this offer next year?

Thanks for your help!

1) Unless you actually plan to use Chase for your primary checking account (for reasons that elude me but perhaps someone out there actually likes Chase) you should close the account after 6 months.

2) Since Contenental is going away once and for all, it is not at all safe to assume the offer will continue next year. We can only hope a similar offer is spawned for a United Debit Card account but there is certainly no guarantee.

1) Probably not necessary to close it now. As an example both my wife and I had existing Chase accounts, closed them and two days later opened new accounts under this promo. My wife got the last of her 25K today. So if a new promo opens you can just close it then and wait 2 days.

2) Nobody knows what with happen with the merger going on.

Try to generate a coupon with different code in first 7 digits, it was mentioned in this thread earlier.

Thanks for the tip, I generated a new code and had her apply online (sunday) and she got the tracking numbers for both the 10k and 15k.

also dont forget you get bag fee waived on CO and probably on new airline after merger....this will help pay back the fee for the card if you fly on CO or whatever it becomes. I wouldnt hold my breath for this offer to be around after the first of the year...merger will kill any CO branded offers.

Good point. I actually totally forgot all about that benefit since I haven't actually checked a bag since sometime back in the late 1980's.:D

Just a quick stupid question since I cannot find my original T/C now.

The 5 debit transaction per month to avoid the monthly fee is per "statement month" not calendar month, right? TIA.

Playboy Nov 3, 2010 4:22 am

Hopefully this will be extended again. But you never know with the merger.

bubb1 Nov 3, 2010 7:16 am

Would love an extension as well but not getting my hopes up...

Can someone share their email to Chase's CSR for waiving the biz card's $65 annual fee? I was shot down, online message said " this is a standard fee", guess my email is not sincere enough? :) DW's $65 annual fee will come due soon, want to give it another try.

Thanks

Ditto for my personal card, was shot down as it is a standard fee that was disclosed at the time of signing up for the account.

Wow, looks like Chase is really eager to open accounts!

I am sure the fees as a source of revenues play a good role in this.
