I had found just now what appeared to be a way to open a biz acct online but at the end of the chat I had, she asked me a question I could not get to. I had to go. Someone else should try what I did and get into a chat to find out. then post the results.

i am thinking that maybe one has to go into a branch after all, and yes some states may not count but that's possibly the best way to start to find out: To generate the chat.

So someone do that and let us all know what the answer is.
I was successful in opening a personal acct online, I never tried biz yet.

What documentation do you need to bring in to open a biz account at a branch?

Actually NO. The best way is to start the process online and at some point the system would let you know. That is how many here have found out the issue many moons BEFORE your post.

This deals have been going on for 2 to 3 years in a row now in case you are not aware of it. It is once a year deal and remains to be seen now after the CO/UA merger what would be transpired. Apparently CO still wants it hence we get the extension to Oct 31.

I'm sure this has been asked before, and I've searched, I can't seem to find a definitive answer. I just closed my CO Chase account, how long do I have to wait before opening a new one? I had both the Personal and the Business. Any help would be great. It looks like I'm possibly running out of time......

ok... perhaps my earlier post was missing some info and there's still more to be done. I am admittedly eager to help and I too may wish to open a biz acct. I did read (rather quickly, I admit) the terms of a biz acct as referenced from the original link, but could not find which states do not work (I am in MA) and I know the click thru to the coupon says you must bring everything into a branch, but....

This is exactly what it had said for personal checking accts and I was able to do that online. I realize others have done that too, and it's possibly in this thread (I read much of it, not all, so sue me lol) but my point is this:

1) to get the chat prompt and have an agent come online and spend time with you to give the right answer whereas you now also have a paper trail of saved text from the chat is NOT a bad idea. And if the chat leads you to a link that will in fact allow for biz accts to be opened online, then this MUST be a good idea to use it.

2) trial and error of link finding, whereas FTers plug in info to figure out if an online route exists is a good thing too, but it's not the only way to do it. However, if someone does find a working link, why cant they post it here for the rest of us?

If one does not exist, well, so be it. maybe with Biz you do have to go in a branch, in which case, I, like many, am out of luck.

I am a tester and a trial guy. When this stuff stops igniting my passion I will post one line replies and give nothing up. By then maybe I'll have like 22,000 posts too lol.

Now, as I type, the chat window thing seems closed til later in the morning. But I do plan to find out that way and if I get something I'll post it. I invite others to do the same.

I have a personal checking account for a UA card, but no business checking.

I'm assuming that:
a) I won't be able to get the personal sign-up bonus (as I'll need to close down the personal checking account)
b) I could get the business sign-up bonus (as I don't have a business checking account)

But, the T&Cs are very vague. "This bonus mile offer is not available to customers with an existing Chase checking account"

Any ideas?

I'm hoping to get the 15K as that is the confirmation printout I got when I opened my second online. I did not get the 10K.

You can get both, no problem. You dont have to close the personal in order to get the business. actually you can even link the 2 so you only have to make 5 swipes on one account to duck the fees on both. You are allowed one business bonus and one personal checking bonus per calendar year. Business and personal accounts are treated seperately, just like most credit cards, you can have both at the same time!!

You would get an error message if your state is not eligible for the biz account offer - basically if Chase does NOT have presence in your state, you could not have a biz account. It most likely be due to some Federal banking laws.

Nobody has been able to open a business account online, tried as people might when they do not have a Chase branch in their locations. Same has also been reported on FrugalTravelGuy's blog.

That is why Mabuk dan gila asked about whether you ACTUALLY have been able to open a biz account online or just relaying the incomplete info from the chat.

Like I said, this deal has been an on-going deal for couple years and there really is no new information to be found on how the business account can be opened. The only new info that may be of short term value is the latest twist about Mabuk dan gila's "Shoot in the Dark" experiment before this offer expires on 10/31. You can read that a couple pages back.

Chris: That is correct, we may have one in the future, but the good news is the coupons are very direct and explain everything. But you can use the personal coupon online.

Also, is there a lower fee card like the personal account? Only see the $65 one listed.

Finally, when did they extend the last date? Did they wait til it expired before announcing the new date? Wondering if they'll extend it again but was there any notification last time?

1) Only $65 version.

2) If you read the previous page you will see when was the offer extended this time - passed the Sept 30 deadline by several days. No notice, simply a change of date in the fine print.

I have NEVER seen any kind of offers gives notification for extension after expiration of the offer other than the date changed in the fine print when the offer pages were not taken down passing the expiration.

I blew it somehow.

I got 10,000 miles.

Then, just today, I got 2,500 miles.

I never got the other 12,500.

Before I put in a secure message, does anyone know how I blew it, exactly?

Joseph - I wouldn't waste time on a secure message. The usual banking staff that respond to the secure messages are pretty clueless about the checking bonus rewards. Call 877-292-4273 - they'll open up an inquiry for you and get back to you in a few days (or you'll see the miles post in a few days). I, as well as others on the thread, have called in and gotten pretty good responses from them. Dealing with anyone else (secure mail, Chase customer service, etc.) will just raise your blood pressure.

As far as why you didn't get the miles, it could very well be an issue on their end. I assume you used one of the later coupons that came out saying this was for people without existing accounts and you don't have another account? You got the $25 or $65 debit card (personal & business respectively) and did a non-pin swipe within 60 days? According to the coupon the 12.5K is the easier bonus to get (less hoops). Hope it works out for you.

Just call the number and explain you didn't get them yet. You'll get them. The miles come is three installments. I also had to call and ask for my last 12.5K and they were deposited in my CO account the following day. Don't worry about it. The 2.5K is part of the 15K so you have nothing to worry about.
