I completely forgot about this!

Good thing I checked FT today and looked at this thread because I would have missed the deadline. I went during my lunch break from work - driving 30+ minutes to the closest Chase Bank, doing paperwork for 20+ minutes, and driving back 30+ minutes, and I'm only supposed to have an hour off for lunch. :D

Ahhh.

By the way, has points been posted for anyone's accounts from this checking account offer? Does it usually takes 6-10 weeks like they state?

Or did I completely skip over those posts that talked about this...

Mine took < 1 month which I wasn't expecting at all.

No and No.

The Chase computers will NOT put you on a "deadbeat" list. The account will simply go to $0, and once there, if you don't do any trans for 2 or so consecutive months, it will CLOSE automatically. However, it will close due to inactivity, not due to anything negative / "deadbeat".

Again, for the small dollars involved, I would not take the risk. Just because you say it has not happened does not mean that it will not happen in the future (especially considering the situation most banks are in). Also, if you had a $100 balance and did not have any activity (besides the monthly fee) would they close the account due to "inactivity". The answer is a resounding NO.

It may be just me, but since Chase provided the 25K miles, the least I can do is keep the account active for the 6 months and then go to the bank and formally close the account.

Plus the teller/banker who helped with the account-opening may not get their commission which reportedly takes 6 months to get.

I opened an account at the end of July and did the 5 card purchases almost immediately but as of today, I only got 22,500 miles. What happened to the last 2500 miles? Should I call or should I wait longer to see if they post.

It's been addressed in this thread many many times. The last 2,500 comes from Continental, not Chase and usually posts 3-4 weeks or more after the 22,500 and almost never fails to post if the 22,500 posted correctly.

These offer are re-ocurring every six months, I will hopefully be opening my third account with them now its a new year, this offer has added the first bag waiver.

Has the offer been extended beyond 9/30/2010?

Click on the link and find out. You will see your answer.

I got in on 9/30 and opened one for my family member. Have been procrastinating but since I didn't want to risk the offer not extending (and it looks like it has not been extended as of this moment), I stopped reading other threads for a while i.e. Grand Slam, Anywhere Challenge, Crack The Case, Dollar Coins, etc., and made sure I put the time in to submit the app.

It has been good while it lasts. Including this final app, I have/will have got 100K CO miles. I have spent 50K of them redeeming for two Y tix (J not available) from HKG to GUM for this Dec. Retail price showed $700+/person, so it is not too bad for a Y ticket.

Now goodbye CO. :( I hope UA will soon do the same offer, but even if it will, the world will not be the same again.

Just some data points:

9/3/2010
- I signed up for the personal checking account, online, and the business checking account at a branch. I have had a personal (no-rewards) checking account once in the past, that was closed a few months back.
- My wife signed up for the personal checking account. She has never had an existing Chase checking account.

9/23/2010
- My OnePass balance increased by 22,500. Likely 10,000 from one account and 12,500 from another.
- My wife's OnePass account increased by 12,500.

If I had to guess, the two accounts with 12,500 in them will only ever see a total of 15,000 miles (given the posts about the 12.5k+2.5k from different providers). And if I am lucky, I'll see another 15k from the one that only deposited 10k miles currently.

I've been going back and forth with Chase via secure email on these accounts trying to fight for the extra 10k on each account. But when I opened the accounts I never got the TWO coupons people mention here (whoops!). The online department keeps referring me to the branch. But at the branch they say it's past the 8-day window where they can apply promos. So we're likely out of luck for anything above 40-45k miles across these 3 accounts. Hey, I guess it's better than nothing ...

For people who applied online, there's only one promo coupon that prints out (15k miles). How have people been getting the other (10k) coupon? Or is it not necessary and will be applied automatically?

You may have just got your 22,500 from the business all at once since you fulfilled the 10,000 mile requirement (deposit $500) on day one and probably got your 12,500 requirement (make one non PIN card purchase) the day you received the card. The personal account will likely take longer since you you can't even start fulfilling your requirements until you receive your debit cards and then you have to make at least 5 transactions which may have taken you longer to complete longer.

In any case, for an account opened 9/3 your miles are not at all over due yet. Make sure your requirements are fulfilled, sit tight, wait 8 weeks at least before you even start to complain because complaining prior to that will be ignored based on the written disclaimer that miles will take 6-8 weeks to post (even if they usually post faster).

IF they have not posted by November call 1-877-292-4273 and ask them to investigate and they will almost certainly fix it for you. Dealing with the branch, Chase customer service, or on-line secure e-mail is likely to be an exercise in futility and unlikely to achieve much resolution since they are mostly clueless about the whole program. 1-877-292-4273 are the only folks you should be talking to about missing miles and only 8 weeks after fulfilling your requirements.

Thanks!

Good points. I didn't expect points yet, but Ffr most programs I usually try and get some sort of enrollment confirmation. For this it sounds like always just wait the 8 weeks before anything and call that number.

Thanks for the number, I didn't have it on file.

My online application confirmation shows both 15k and 10k miles in one page. I don't have it in front of me right now, so I can't tell you how it is worded.

Hmm, when did you apply for the card? I applied on Sep 28th, and got this:

after your first qualifying purchase for bonus miles to post to your OnePass account.
