Those were my thots too coz i printed the biz account link from the same page (as the personal account link) and it went still went thru. Came back home and printed 2 coupons and the the 1st 7-8 digits were also the same and only last 3-4 digits were different. Just not sure why the personal one didnt go thru. Unless this issue is only applicable to personal account link. Kgkg - did u and your wife apply for the personal or biz account?

I was also not to concerned about the 'once a year only' rule since i applied for the personal acc for the 2nd time in Oct (1st time was in March), so i know it can be done.

btw, thanks Happy for the clarification. Didnt realise there were 2 different URLs out there. Anyway a lesson learnt.

Same here for both personal & business - only a few digits difference at the end, both personal generated from the same URL and both business generated from the same URL.

Many pages ago this issue has been explained and work around posted.

There are apparently 2 series of coupons with 2 URLs to generate them. The first 7 or 8 digits are all the same in a series - and that is the determination of whether the coupon has been used. So you would need a coupon from the other series in order for the system accepts it.

If you do a thread search you may be able to unearth this or you can try to find it by starting to read the thread from posts dd in May or June (my vague memory it was that time frame.)

BTW, there are many posts about the condition of only ONE bonus per year was added in Mid Year.

Here's that potential workaround: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/13936029-post985.html

Sadly, I wish I had seen this before my last minute trip to Chase this afternoon! Though at least my wife got hooked up (first time for her).

If it's not too late, I'd like to offer a suggestion regarding getting the debit cards (This is mostly speculative because I opened my account in-store):

On the Chase homepage, under "Personal Banking," there is a "Debit Cards" button. Clicking this button, you'll see the available debit cards, one of which is the "Continental Airlines Debit Card." Selecting this card should refresh the page, and a green button at the bottom of the screen appears allowing you to "Upgrade current debit card."

This probably only works if you've got a valid account number and access to online banking already.

Thanks this may work for the sign up I did a few days ago where it let me go through with the coupon but did not offer the debit card. The sign up changed again though when I tried it yesterday. It doesn't let you go through with the coupon, so without coupon applied to the account when signing up you don't get the bonus. I don't know if it would have been possible for a csr to add the coupon after signing up. Online chat didn't offer that. I kind of doubt they could do it.

This is moot point anyway as the offer expired.

To clarify WHEN you would need a different series number:

If this is your FIRST time to apply for the account this year, it is your FIRST usage of the coupon - any URL you used to generate a coupon would work.

If this is your SECOND time to apply for the account this year, you ALREADY USED the coupon, therefore you may need a coupon with a different series from the one you used last time, assuming you have kept a copy of the coupon used last time.

I see you finally found the post that explained this issue, though unfortunately it is too late. Indeed the post was dd in May.

miles will be forfeited?

I applied for this offer (and received the miles associated with it) in late June. More than six months have passed, so I was going to close the account. I wanted first to ensure that six months was long enough to have kept the account open in order to safeguard the miles. I e-mailed Chase. Surprisingly this is the response I received: "Please be advised that once we close your checking account, your debit card will also be canceled thus all miles associated with your debit card will be forfeited. We suggest you to redeem your miles
before closing the account."

This doesn't seem right. Has anyone else gotten such information from Chase? I am assuming that this agent wrote in error; I plan to call Chase. Any ideas about this?

Likely they're referring to the miles you've accrued since your last statement. It's always a good idea to wait until your statement closes, verify the final miles have been transferred to CO, and then close your account. That way you aren't leaving anything on the table.

Missing miles Question

I opened the two 25k Checking accounts in early December, yet I have only received 45,000 miles to my Continental account. Here is what is stated on the Continental website for my account:

Activity Date Description Mileage Earned
12/29/2010 Chase Checking Bonus 10,000
12/29/2010 Continental Debit Bonus 12,500
12/29/2010 Continental Debit Bonus 12,500
12/27/2010 Chase Checking Bonus 10,000

Why did Continental only bonus 12,500, instead of the 15,000 as stated on the offer page? What should I do?

Wait for another 6 to 8 weeks.

This question has been asked and answered many many many times.

If you have paid enough attention when you study this offer, you would have read that the bonuses are 3 parts, the 2 big ones come from Chase after fulfilling the corresponding requirements. The last 2500 miles are from Continental itself and it takes 6 to 8 weeks before Continental release its share of the bonus.

I signed up online (no branches in this State) for the checking and debit card last week (12/28/10) with the help of a CSR over the phone (1-877-682-4273). I saw that I could not request the Chase-CO Debit Card on line. I was told to call back at a later date and ask for it.…. I received the generic Chase card today and called 1-800-935-9935 to request the change. After spending 10 minutes on the phone with a very pleasant trainee (most of it on hold), I was told they would send me the Chase-CO card ($25 annual fee).

I also asked if I could change my account from “Chase Checking” to “Chase Premier Checking” and link my Chase mortgage (left over from WAMU) to it, thereby avoiding the $6 monthly service fee or the need to have 5 debit card purchases or one direct deposit to avoid that fee that the “Chase Checking” account has. I was transferred from the trainee to another CSR and was told that because my mortgage was in NY and my checking was opened in Ohio (?) that they could not link the two. I then asked if I could not have the checking account transferred to NY. She said that they might be able to open a new account in NY. I was put on hold for about 10 minutes and then finally the CSR came back and said that they could then simply change the account to the “Premier Checking.” During the hold time on the phone, I got to thinking that if I still had the other account open in OH and then opened a new account in NY that might somehow void the bonus miles. She also said that the mortgage would be linked apparently without changing the checking from OH to NY. Hopefully I will qualify for the 25k. if I do 5 debit card purchases (including the first purchase with the CO card). I think I need to wait for my new CO card to start making the purchases, right?

Changes to my checking account

Received noticed in the mail that starting Feb., I will need a min. of $500.oo for DD to avoid the $6 monthly fee. I cld avoid the fee by using my debit card 5 times ( no change on this one ) a mth. I am sure many others must hv received the same notice of change. ( This is from my account opened in June )

Free checking is rapidly disappearing throughout the industry. Fortunately most are retaining a method to avoid it through direct deposit (not for me, not rerouting paychecks), through minimum balance (Wells Fargo is only $1500) or the check card purchases.

For all such accounts I open for miles, sign-up cash or the like, I simply take my debit cards the first of the month, hit self checkout at the grocery store early morning or late night and make 5 purchases in a row for stuff I need anyway and/or items less than $1 each.

This is reported several pages and weeks ago. Yes, no more easy free checking.

At least they have not specified the minimum amount required for the debit card transactions which are relatively easy to do if you make it a point to do all 5 within a day or 2 at the beginning of each statement cycle. That is when our cards get to see the daylight. After that they are back to the drawer.

A purchase of a single banana can be one of the 5 required, for example.

For the purpose to earn bonus, yes.

So even though you just now signed up for the CO card, you are still getting the bonus miles (expired 12/31)?
