Give it another try, listening carefully for the prompts.

I applied for the card on Thursday evening 1/12, got the "we will let you know" response. I currently have 4 other Chase cards (last application, which was successful, was about 6 months ago), so was not surprised. I tried the automated check-status line on Friday and Saturday, both times got the automated message saying the application was under consideration, and there's no additional info, etc.

Today, Sunday, I just tried again @ 1-800-945-2006, hit #, then 2, then 1, then enter SSN.

I just got "Congratulations, your application has been approved..." Woohoo! I was surprised by the next thing I heard on the recording: "Your account limit is $20,000" (actually, I'd prefer to keep that lower - but I can always call them and have it lowered, no problem). Then "By now, you should have received your account packet..." Well, I think they're being a little optimistic on that, but I assume that means it's in the mail and I should get it in a few days. It's all good.

Based on my experience (I've had many, many Chase cards over the years, they have been very good to me) and from what I've read here, they seem to be trying hard to approve these cards. As long as you have your stuff together, I see no reason not to apply for this one. This is a great deal, folks, don't sit this one out. ^

Why would you ever want to lower your credit line?

When I activated my card yesterday, the phone rep told me the points would post 6-8 weeks after first use. I expect they will post with the next billing cycle.

I tried the same procedure again. Maybe in cases where applications have not yet been approved you now get routed to a representative; at least that's what's been happening today.

Because I plan to apply for another Chase card in a few months, and want to have plenty of credit available for that one.

It's nice to know that they're ready to extend that much credit to me by default (especially when I probably have a total of $20,000-$30,000 in credit available on my *other* 4 or 5 Chase credit cards) but I'll certainly never use anything close to that. YMMV.

I agree. I lowered mine from 23k today. I'll never need that much, and I would prefer to be approved for my next Chase card automatically without being interrogated and having to ask them to move credit from another card.

To add to my amazement, I just called Citi and it turns out my Citi ThankYou Premier was also approved today as well. So I got two new cards with 50K bonuses approved on the same day... quite a bit of credit approved in 24hrs! ^

Pretty surprised with how much credit Chase appears to be willing to give me between my two cards, guess its for the best though as I'll never even come close to the 50% mark. Now to make my first purchase and get my miles!

You should never ask for your credit limit to be reduced. If you keep it you always have it to negotiate a line exchange with when you call for reconsideration.

Yeah I would never lower it "just because". When I called to get my Chase Ink Bold and this Chase United card approved -- I had them just lower my Chase Sapphire card by 5k each time and was instantly approved. I have had a few chase cards within the past few months now because of this.

Let them lower it to approve you for other cards, dont lower it on your own.

Seriously? No one up thread has NOT received the bonus? I haven't read all the 500+ posts so I'm glad to hear this good news from you. I'll have her apply during her next "churn cycle" (quarterly) and report back.

Keep in mind that it's only been available, what? - about a week - so it's still early. But if you follow directions and nothing goes wrong, I would assume that the miles will flow - no reason to doubt it.

Still, I took screen shots.

You can just call them if you'd like. My wife's app was in pending mode and so when we called the recon line they said it was still in que, but they did confirm the sign up offer even before she was approved.

YMMV, but unlike Amex and their vagueness or differing to someone else, I have found Chase to be very straight forward.

(reply posted while you were in editing) Glad you are all confirmed now.

When I called reconsideration line as they pulled the "wrong" credit report up, I asked about the bonus miles after I was approved for the credit card. (same phone call) Rep said it was for 40k bonus. When I told him I applied for the 60k , he said if I were solicited and applied for 60k, I would receive it..

I was one of the very few who could never see the 60k banner even after transferring miles from continental to United several times and Ultimate rewards to united. When I used the copy and paste link, it took me two tries on the same page to see the 60k bonus so I was a bit worry.

Unless you have screen shots, you can count on never getting that extra 25k miles...
