Can anyone offer me some advice here - made a stupid mistake today.
Have been really excited about applying for the Sapphire Preferred and this card both today under one pull. Stupid me, decided to first ask for a credit increase first so that I could have more bargaining power. Well, of course that counted as a hard pull, and automatically locked my Sapphire app as pending when I applied. I don't think I should have a problem getting that approved (Experian 748) and long term Chase customer with only 1 card currently. But I REALLY wanted this (United) card before the exp date. Should I still give it a chance, or does that just look like I'm too desperate for credit with three requests today? Don't want to risk my Sapphire app too.
Thank you in advance!

I dont think it matters, the credit bureaus calculate your score with inquiries on the same day as 1 pull even if they are multiples.
As far as approval, i dont think it would be a problem.
If they ask why you app'ed for the other, just say maybe you were to split expenses or something along that nature.

Current CO MC holder (from early last year) - cancelled my UA Visa in the Fall last year - applied for the Explorer card and got turned down calling on "too many inquiries" - any chance I can get that overturned? I'd be willing to cancel my Continental card, or Marriott (opened for about 3 years now)

As an info point, got a rejection letter on my new UAL Explorer app due to too many Chase apps and too much exposure due to my several Chase existing accts (BA, Sapp Pref, Ink Bold, et al).
Called reconsideration line, explained to analyst (who was interested in why I needed another card) that I was planning to start flying UAL much more due to new job obligations and benefits of UAL card would be helpful, also want to keep certain charges separate for record keeping reasons, and credit analyst suggested taking $5K from another card and adding new $5K. Fine by me. Called in two days later and app granted.
So far that's 150K UAL miles from bonuses recently!
Maybe time to lay off Chase apps for a bit. @:-)
Thanks so much to FTers who share and make this all possible.

Apparently there are two versions of this card after calling for some details. One has a credit line limit (platinum) and no-limit (signature) doesn't. Any of you getting a Visa Platinum vs. Visa Signature version of this card? If so, what's the difference (better) of the two?
Would the platinum disqualify applicants from the 50k bonus? Thoughts/experience?
"MILEAGEPLUS EXPLORER CARD: You will first be considered for a Visa Signature card. If you do not qualify for that product, you will automatically be considered for a Visa Platinum card, which has different fees, benefits, and credit availability."

some what OT, but the card showed up in the mail over the weekend and boy, is it flimsy
It's thinner than any other card I have and feels like the kind you get in CC offer packages which say "your name here"

I just wanted to say a HUGE thanks about the 60k offer for the Chase United Explorer card. I read a lot of posts on here trying to figure out how to get to the offer. I kept only seeing the 40k offer as I clicked all the links in this forum. Then I tried another approach that worked!!!
Ok, so I do have a Continental OnePass card. I also have some miles on Continental. I had zero on United. Luckily I was already a United member though it's been a few years. So I linked my United and Continental mileage accounts and transferred 1000 miles to my United account. I came back here, clicked the link to the 60k offer and WALA!!!!
IT WORKED!!!!!!!
On top of that, I was instantly approved!
So I can't say thanks enough! This 50k will be used for our summer trip to Utah!
You guys on this forum are awesome!
THANKS AGAIN!!!

Dear mtnman75,
Glad you got the card and the 50K bonus BUT generally, best use of miles is not for domestic flights to say, Utah. Pay for domestic flights, get miles for those flights, combine with bonus miles and fly biz or F internationally to get max value from your miles. ^

Got mine today- when I validated it - the customer service rep mentioned the 50,000 miles. Here's hoping.
