Guys, total newbie here so please forgive any ignorance...

I have a SW Visa from chase. Any chance getting the 60K on the Mileage Plus since I have this pre-existing card?

If a state has a law that says that the consumer is allowed to record any call that the credit card company records, that works. But if the state has no such law, I would not count on the interpretation of "may" above as authorizing the recording.
I think you can record any phone call in the U.S. as long as you have the permission of at least one of the participants. So as long as you are a willing participant, you should be fine.

My wife was not a member of UA mileage plus, so we created a new account for her and the 40k bonus offer displayed upon her signing in. We then transferred 100 miles from her CO account to her UA account and after the transfer, she was offered the 60k bonus. The 100 mile trick worked for both of us.

Should not be a problem unless you just recently got the SW card!

Not exactly sure what you're asking - but I just got the 60K offer (expect the card today) and I currently have the old Chase United card plus another Chase card. I had three other Chase cards over the last year that I cancelled including the SW.

I think you'll be ok depending on your credit scores :-)

Does anyone have similar experience with an old UA card still in use with a 1+ year old CO card and getting the new UA Explorer Card bonus?
Yes. There are a number of us who were in the situation you describe and who were approved for the card and have already received the 50,000 miles. There are a few threads on this topic (a couple in this forum and one in the UA Forum) where this is verified by folks.

Not true in all states. In Illinois, recording a conversation without the knowledge of the other participant is a felony unless some exception applies.

"Twelve states require the consent of every party to a phone call or conversation in order to make the recording lawful. These "two-party consent" laws have been adopted in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington (Hawai'i is also in general a one-party state, but requires two-party consent if the recording device is installed in a private place)"

So if you're in one of the other 38 states (or one of the other 45 states if you attended the same U.S. studies class Obama attended), I guess you're free to record any of your conversations you'd like. (As long as you can prove you've given yourself consent. )

You may be at the limit, but you may not be. Everyone is different, depending on credit score, other outstanding debt, etc.

Were those all instant approvals, or did you have to call for reconsideration? Do you have sufficient credit lines on each of these cards that you could move around? You might go ahead and apply, then call reconsideration if you get a "we'll look at your app" message, and volunteer to move credit lines.

Or, are you willing to close out completely one of your previous cards? Chase made me do that for their "two new cards every 6 months" rule they quoted FOR ME (others have different experiences). Just prepare for a little negotiation is my advice And don't close out accounts proactively, save them for haggling.

I don't see a cut-off date mentioned when clicking on "Pricing & Terms", however some have reported that a January 31, 2012 deadline was stated in the offer that came by e-mail. Anyone have more information on this?

Don't know about the United cut off date but Jan 31 was the date for applying for the targeted 60k CO OP card via E-mail. Hope that helps.

Could not get the 60k offer to work as had 0 miles in my UA Account. Signed up for the MP Dining program, bought a gyro at Extreme Pita for which I earned a grand total of 16 miles, and <poof> I could see the offer.

Applied yesterday, but got the "we will review within 10 days blah blah". Only other Chase card is the Marriott Visa, which I had gotten 61 days ago. Called the 1-800-436-7961 line today and inquired about the status, agent said the system showed I had just been approved and should get the card in the mail soon....

Have a question about the UA Club passes. Don't need em this year as I have *A Gold, are they transferable to another person?

Cheers

Can't find it now, but now I saw it somewhere . Maybe it was cutoff for emailed 40 K offer PRE clicking on link or adding miles to UA A/C?

Try 40 k link T & Cs

No, some states require all-party consent, even though most states only require one-party consent, and even though federal law only requires one-party consent. State laws can set higher requirements than federal law does.
