Do not call the airlines under any conditions! This is the fastest way to kill the trick and bring unwanted attention to your itinerary! And do not post precious deals in this thread, this is by far the fastest way to kill the trick!

************************************************** ******
This is NOT the right place to ask: "Can you help me with a low fare for AAA-BBB?" This is not the beg-it thread, but the trick-it thread.

This thread deals with unique combinations of routes and booking tricks in order to lower prices on airline fares. Prices that would astound the general public are often achieved by the posters in this thread.

Many people, including airline representatives, monitor this thread. For that reason, it is unorganized, very content heavy, often lacking details, and written in shorthand. It takes patience and effort in order to understand the conversation and be able to participate as an active member.

We encourage you to read the entirety of this thread if you would like to get started and to experiment as soon as you understand the gist of Trick It. Lots of time spent reading, practicing, and learning is the only way to be able to reproduce our tricks and discover new ones yourself. There are many, many people who ask for advice here, so productive members are only able to help those who have shown a concerted effort and progress over a long period of time (months).

If you have no idea what this thread is about, a good place to start are various blogs' posts on the subject. At the very least, read the Rules for posting in this thread. They're also listed in the very first post, below.

Older portions of the thread have been separated into archive thread by year. They are listed below

  • Fuel dumping pioneers discovered the tricks
  • FD pioneers served the tricks to newbies of the day on a platter
  • When airlines started cracking down on FD, the experts started coding and obfuscating their tricks
  • New newbies have to climb a steeper learning curve due to the increased secrecy around the craft
Therefore, we can conclude that current newbies have it harder than previous newbies.

BTW, there isn't much actual dumpable routes and tricks discussed in thread lately. Are there some secret/hidden discussion groups or forums where the tricks of the trade are exchanged with less coding and more content ?

The barriers around this sport are not to keep newcomers out, rather it is to ensure that those in possession of sensitive info treat it with the respect that it deserves.

Caveat emptor my friends. There have been many false prophets before.

For Lord's sake - I wish you guys didn't take yourselves so seriously !

Football is a sport. Tricking airlines out of the fare they intend to charge isn't a sport. And it makes a pretty sad hobby ... and an even sadder faith-based cult.

As a means to getting cheap tickets I understand it. I've used it. But I also understand it's an ephemeral business, the shelf-life of each "trick" is limited.

Some are happy that as many travellers as possible benefit from it during its lifetime; others are selfish. The two sides are unlikely to agree, so not much point ranting about it

Despite being called "tricks", nobody is tricking anybody out of anything. The airlines made the rules that we're playing by.

Even sadder for the folk that take the time to pen replies against things for which they supposedly have no interest.

Time travel.

Though it does take an extremely warm 1x to pull it off.

Guys,
on ITA i found 2 3x which reduces by half the fat of RAM; problem is that on OTA the two combinations are not listed up. Do you know some good ota where I can buy the ticket?

Trial and error. Aggregators* can be helpful (or not) and some OTA's do prefer a bit more guidelines to trigger the desired result.

Having problems to get something ticketed is an issue all dumping and flying tricksters face from time to time. For newbies ITA can obviously be helpful when trying to discover your first dumps and strikes. But be aware that real life FD goes much further than just playing with ITA or even a GDS. Many of the gems are not even ITA-ble and have a very different logic behind the construction.

At a certain point you will have to leave ITA behind (and only use it for it's own merits), put on your boots and dive into the marsh of what I would call OTA dumping. Anybody not joining that level and specific process is nothing more than a sissy, wannabe dumper. Do you get it ?

* Btw, keep in mind that some of those do offer certain features that might be very helpful in resolving your problem.

Sure.

You are giving the strike details away to a 3rd party website. The details of which are easily checked by the site owners.

Any strike that you use on that site, you are giving away.

I realise that I am more risk adverse than some, but personally I don't trust a system like that. And I never personally use it, or any other site like that. Nor do any of the experienced FDers that I know.
