1) you do know that a cash advance is a loan, don't you? so first take a careful look at the fees charged by your bank card before taking the advance. Many cc charge 2-4% upfront for taking a cash advance

2) make sure that a cash advance counts toward your minimum spend. Many banks won't consider it a charge...those banks categorize it as a loan and not as an eligible credit card charge.

Please delete this post and any mentioning the cash advances!! Tired of you guys posting the ways we PM you to get around these deals!:mad::mad::mad:

It appears that MA is shut down.
Anyone from RI or NH able to buy any today

Picked up some in NH (Southern) today at around 1:30pm.
Tried a second CVS in NH but my CC locked me out with fraud alert :(
Mostly likely would have gone thru as well.

Maybe, but it's not as if interest starts accruing immediately and you may lose a grace period for purchases, right?

The Amazon Jungle, of course.

Tried two places in Boston today - the cashier tried to check out as normal, but the system wouldn't let her. Tried again adding a candy bar, no dice.

Upper-middle class neighborhood within 30 miles of a major airport.

now two for two today in the 518. (that's the A/S/T MSA for the uninitiated) totally business as usual. ^

Should I max out at $5K at the two stores?

^ Two area stores. Hot Diggity!!!

I have JHP, HRB, DS's BB, and when my time is served, another BB. I already have $8K VRs on hand....

I also have alternative method for after VRs are a total shutdown that allows up to $10K in purchases.

Can't find my AMEX Gold; probably left it somewhere on my last trip. Should I go ahead and max out with others today?

The issue is not the interest rate but whether your bank charges an upfront fee. Many banks charge 2-4% of the advance upfront, meaning they'll charge $20-$40 per thousand being advanced. That's separate and distinct from the interest charge. So check the terms of your cc's cash advance before going that route.

So far it seems only Boston is solidly 100% cut off from all the reports we have seen. Everywhere else it is still fairly open.

You are being trolled. Just ignore it.

There is a couple of jokers here and it is kinda obvious they are joking if you really pay attention.

Don't worry. That post assumes that people who don't know any better either a. read more than just blogs and/or b. read more than the last page of posts which is their normal modus operandi.
