I know u guys want to keep this secret but i didnt think cash advance count as a purchase.

So u just hit the atm right there in the cvs and withdraw $1000 with yoiurcredit card and buy the beans. I swore that wouldnt earn miles.

You can also just hit up your bank and get like 10k at a time, but I am not saying anymore about this lilttle gem. We all really need to stop talking about this amazing workaround. Too many will start doing it and then it will die too. Lets use some discretion folks...keep this secret close to the vest!

Just bought $3500 in Avon Lake, OH at 5:55 pm. No problems at all. This is a western suburb of Cleveland.

Not that it matters anymore, but I can not express how strongly I disagree with the pathway cited above.

I've written before, bring the store personal in, teach them MS if they are interested. Friends are better, teamwork is best. People like to help people, friends, even more.

Anyway... ORD New East Side CVS got a memo this afternoon saying April 4th is the cash day on all reload cards.

I completely disagree with you. We do not need to teach anyone anything. Too many people opening thier mouths is the reason we are where we are at today. Keep store mgmt in the dark, its none of their business and who needs another MS'er out there anyway

It's super odd that some stores are hard coded and others are not. Leads me to believe it truly is a sporadic thing. Might have to do with what some people mentioned being "high risk" stores. Because one store works, but then another 10 minutes away doesn't work. The person who seemed to know what they were talking about due to a friend working at CVS made it seem like they could fairly easily hard code all of the registers at once if they wanted to. But for some reason that didn't happen. Not sure why it would only roll out to certain stores and gradually to more and more if they have the pretty simple ability to do it all at once.

*fingers crossed* haha

Not good if other stores are getting conversion dates later this week.

Data point: I was able to load Serve w/ CC at CVS in south Virginia. The cashier said she was not sure if we could do the transaction "today", implying a policy change. She decided to have a try, and everything went smoothly as usual.

I have received that "another form of payment" message in the past. That just means the CC got denied by the bank and is flagging it as fraud. If you just got the WF card it could just be WF being cautious after seeing a large purchase. I would strongly suggest you call WF to clarify if it was denied due to your account being flagged for fraud and for them to release it. I am pretty sure when you call that this is going to be the case.

i'm pretty sure that was it with WF they are a pain...still got VR though

Why do we need to teach store personnel about MS? It is not our responsibility. Trust me store managers are not your friends and they are not going to save you if you are about to fall off a cliff. They have no interest in learning about MS and how you are sharing your plan to rack up $20-30K in CC debt a month just to get rewards. They are just doing what is allowable by corporate until a memo comes in and tells them not to. If that happens, it won't matter if you are buddy buddy with a store manager because he can't do anything about it. Don't volunteer more information than you have to.

Besides MSers take up way too much time at the cashier line and now we want to lecture them on MS thereby holding up the line even longer? No way :D

Just bought a $500 VGC at a CVS in SF without issue (like most places, they were out of VRs). I've been to at least 10 different NorCal CVSs in the last 48 hours, and no one has mentioned anything about going cash only...

This about sums it up. When it comes down to you or their job they are going to pick their job every time.

Seriously, the CVS management folks must be in shock if they are reading this thread. They don't have to track the progress of the roll-out as we are doing it for them.
