CVS master thread

Loaded Serve as usual in PA this am. Nothing was said about any change. Later went into another of my regular stores to pick up a VR and there was some discussion about the memo, what date it was effective, and how it could not be purchased with other than cash anymore. But I asked them to try and see if it would go through so they did, very doubtfully. And it went through. So my conclusion is that it is not yet hard-coded and it just depends on who you get before it does become hard-coded. They know me so that helps. I'm not sure if a stranger could have talked them into trying.

I love the map! Much more success than failure. So far . . .

I'll hopefully have some Midlands SC success pins to put in shortly.

You find driving hard working totally innocent store managers to suicide "hilarious". But references to cash advances and the follow ups about hoping bloggers don't blow the deal for everyone by telling the "secret" to the unwashed masses not even funny. At least your values are clearly thought out. :D

Albany/Schenectady/Troy metropolitan statistical area, perhaps?

I like that it is the guy who lives in Denver that got it but the guy (me) who lives in NYC and drives to Montreal frequently (mostly in the 518 as it turns out) Had no clue.

The map really does make it look like it was targeted to specific areas. Maybe the cities/states/regions/stores/whatever with the highest levels of fraud or similar problems.

Bingo. And without meaning offence to any of my neighbors, there really isn't anything of significance between the Tri-City area and the Canadian border.

I found it funny. I am waiting for more people to use ambiguous terms to help us out here.

How are things in the tri-state area?

Hope everyone could see I was posting that tongue-in-cheek. Seriously though, I haven't noticed anyone else posting about this (my) area. At my two favorite stores I had no issues today. Will try again tomorrow to see if there's any difference.

To be fair, the poster admitted that he couldn't be sure that it was his purchase that drove the guy to do the deed. It could've been the incessant phone calls asking if he had "Battletoads" in stock.

Thanks 2B! Glad you love the map. Took less than an hour to build :)

So then I suppose CVS stores are like a box of chocolates? :p

Who let the CA-VR cat out of the bag? That old trick was a cash cow for me.

Yeah... I always think MA, especially BOS is MS's paradise, you can find countless beans within walking range whenever you want. I really hope there are still some CVS stores near BOS urban area survive. I don't have a car (because parking is always time consuming and expensive), so things will be really tough if we have to go to NH, RI or west MA for MS.

It's the Age of the Internet, doncha know. If the NSA can't keep it's spying secret, what hope is there of keeping tricks of the trade like CA from leaking out from FT? :(

Lake George with the Great Escape and Plattsburgh would beg to differ. Not to mention the awesome Ausable Chasm. Albany is where we send our crooks after all.

Agreed - alternate form of payment does not mean cash only. Had the same thing happen today and I then presented a different credit card and transaction went thru. As I was leaving the store my cell phone was ringing and it was the credit card company verifying purchase.
