Boat transfer from the Airport is not mandatory despite what any hotel emails might imply to the contrary. It's possible to take the free Air Tahiti shuttle to Vaitape (15 minutes), followed by a taxi to the IC Le Moana for 2000XPF (15 minutes), then the IC's shuttle between Le Moana and Thalasso for 3390 XPF per person one way (updated Dec 2019) (15 minutes). So then what happens to the rooms? They never come back and are left empty???? That doesn't seem logical. Though expecting IHG to follow logic is probably an exercise in futility. Do they come back at a later date???

They sell them for cash, not for points.

Is it pretty easy to pass time there? We will be there next year and thinking of just taking the shuttle out in the morning to explore the island since there doesnt seem to be anything to do once you see the ray feeding, the chef demo and painting demo. Hope you guys have a great time!

I think they make them available again. I have seen entire months not show availability and then random days will show available and then disappear and other various days will show availability.

Then again, maybe the IHG agent just lied to me or was incompetent. Or both.

As an example, last night when I looked there was no availability in October 2015 and this morning the 9th and 21st were showing as available.

Yes, seriously. Why does the question surprise you? It seems Thalasso is a very chill property with nothing much to do but relax. Staying there for 5+ days might make some people stir crazy once they've exhausted the usual activities.

I wake up, I eat breakfast, then go to sleep for another hour or two. Then I go swim and do one activity, then come back and sleep, then go out for HH, then sleep and possibly wake up to get dinner. Night swim off our bungalow (that's why I prefer the bungalows that don't face any other bungalows), then sleep again .

EDIT: I also read a lot

I was able to string another night to my reward bookings. So far the plan is 3 nights Moorea then 6 nights Thalasso Bora Bora.

If you are purchasing your own intra-island airfare, there is a negligible increase (~$10) in doing PPT-MOZ-BOB-PPT.

Currently I see no availability June 1st thru Oct. 22nd. I see 2 or 3 scattered days within each month Feb. thru May. However, I see increasing availability closer in, with 5 to 7 nights available each month from Nov., 2014 thru Jan., 2015. Anybody think this is due to low season, or cancellations, or they just couldn't sell the rooms?

easy peasy, no fee or anything..
That's how I booked 4 nights as well for our upcoming honeymoon. Calling is always best since the agents seem to have access to stuff that may not pop up on the site.
