Boat transfer from the Airport is not mandatory despite what any hotel emails might imply to the contrary. It's possible to take the free Air Tahiti shuttle to Vaitape (15 minutes), followed by a taxi to the IC Le Moana for 2000XPF (15 minutes), then the IC's shuttle between Le Moana and Thalasso for 3390 XPF per person one way (updated Dec 2019) (15 minutes). If all transfers go smoothly, the journey could be as short as an hour, or longer than two hours if you're unlucky.

It looks like reward nights are now costing 250k with reward nights at Le Moana costing between 145-168k. Bummer.

Yeah I've been looking for a 4 night stay with rewards and noticed yesterday that it jumped more than double to 250K.

What would have cost 360000 points for a 4 night stay will now cost 750000 points (with the 4th night free benefit). Crazy jump.

Last time it jumped from 90K to 120K and people were complaining here. Now it jumped straight to 250K. And yet all availability has been depleted. Clearly people have lots of points just sitting in their accounts

Having stayed at both properties (twice), and loving them, I can tell you they have really over-shot their worth.

Well then.......... guess i'm not going to book this on points again. 250k/nt is so not worth it. I guess the points increase is now closer to the actual cash price?

250K points per night is just stupid.
IHG should just stop offering a loyalty program at this point.

I'm surprised nobody has pointed out the obvious:

All those that have been asking for free breakfast, lounge access, f&b rewards, etc., who do you think is paying for that?

IHG was strong in raking up points for reward nights. Well, they might still throw the same amount of points at you, but they are much less valuable.

it is literally laughable. Was looking to book this. 250k per night?!? I mean, I know IHG points are low value, but I used to consider them equal to Hilton points.

The Conrad is 120k Hilton after their recent deval, less than half. The Park Hyatt Maldives, another comparable hotel, albeit in the Maldives is 35k. I can get 7 nights at the Park for 245k. Or 1 night here. Sure, they're harder to earn, but not THAT much harder...

Just came back from Bora Bora and wanted to list the following information as of July 2023 in case anyone finds it useful (I’m not sure how to update the main wiki at the very beginning of this thread)

As of July 2023:

Breakfast buffet at Thalasso: 5500 xpf (tax included) per person per day (20% discount if you buy during check in so 4400 xpf)

Breakfast is free for two people if you have Diamond status (and you choose that option as your welcome gift instead of points or a drink)

Direct Boat Transfers from Thalasso to Airport One-way per person: 8165 XPF (50% discount for children between 3 and 11 years old was also mentioned)

Boat shuttle between Le Moana and Thalasso One-way per person: 1883 XPF. The shuttle times listed on the main wiki have changed I believe. For example, I think last departure from Thalasso is 9:30pm. First departure from Le Moana 8:45am. You can email the hotel directly for a copy of their current schedule

I have Diamond Ambassador status and did not get a free upgrade at the Thalasso because I booked with points they said. However, I did get an upgrade at Le Moana from “King Beach Bungalow Lagoon View” to a King Overwater Bungalow (also booked with points) so depends on the resort

You also get ~2000 XPF credits for food and beverage per stay for both Thalasso and Le Moana even if you book with points

The resort has various wedding-related services like special dinners or photographers. You can email the concierge ahead of time and they'll send you a pdf

The resort has 3 main restaurants (Sands, Reef, Le Corail). Only Sands is available for lunch. You can find their menus on the hotel website

I think it’s been clear that IHG really does not want us booking here. The Conrad and St. Regis are much better choices for value and availability. I hope that does not change.

Nearing 3900 posts on this property. Hadn't seen this thread before staying (been away from FT for years travelling 189 countries, 750 of 1500 "places" of world)).
Skimmed some recent posts. Attempt to contribute some items/tips not in recent posts.

0. Stayed at one of the 4 villa end units (2 floors, nothing blocking view of mountain). Upgrade not applicable.
1. Cash or points? Cash
2. Affordability ? Bought the Ambassador membership a few weeks before staying, with intent to use the one free weekend night,,at this specific property
3. Communication with property beforehand... response timely and accurate
4. Boat from mainland: property waived the fee
5. Breakfast: delivery by boat, agreed at half-price, was a very good experience
6. Wine. having visited 800+ vineyards in the world (at least 1 vineyard in 35+ countries), tasting easily at least 2,500 wines, was interesting to try Polynesian wines.
Sommelier, who doubled as a manager, allowed entry into cellar of international wines - wasn't hugely outstanding or anything unusual, but prices not too bad.
7. Gift Collared T-shirt (Lacoste type) with IC Bora Bora sewn in. Polynesian clothes wraps.
8. Mini-bar Everything gratis and refillable gratis.
