Colleague has paid J HEL-CPH. He recieved out of the blue the email "Your refund request with number xxxxxxxx for itinerary xxxxx has been processed, money will be refunded in 2-5 days"
He has never made any refund request or there has not been any changes to ticket/flight.
Everything is still fine in app and logging in on website.

Not really sure if that would be the case. A while ago I had to contact CS to make 2-for-1 award tickets using my vouchur, and they of course charged me 1k points more for my award tix 😑. But such thing we couldn't do it by online.

I try to change date but constantly get "something went wrong". I'm looking for dates in April, are there any limits on how far ahead you can make a change or is there an issue with the system?

I tried the chat bot which tells me to do it myself from the manage booking page because the agents are never available. It's a catch-22, how do one communicate with this company?

I also had my points messed up recently due to being waitlisted for both PE and J, some of them going through and others not, and not getting credited back for those that didn't go through. I contacted chat support and their comment was "there's definitely quite the mess in here", but after a few minutes, they were able to fix it all. Perhaps I got lucky with the customer support person, but he seemed very efficient and knew what he was doing. It was still showing incorrect transactions on the app for a few days but at least the website was updated immediately, and the points balance was corrected on both.

Unless I'm missing something only awards take 1000pts extra if done via CS and not upgrades? At least I've never seen any published wording for that.

It is also for upgrades. This can be found on finnair website that I cannot link due to not enough posts (but you can find it under the path "Earn and use Finnair Plus points -> Use points on travel class upgrade" under heading "Point charges for upgrading your travel class".


Please note that if you purchase your travel class upgrade from Economy Class to Business Class through our customer service, there is an extra charge of 1,000 points per direction.

Upgrades to or from Premium Economy are currently available only via our customer service. We recommend our easy to use chat service on Finnair.com or Finnair mobile app. You will not need to pay the 1, 000 points extra charge for those.

Lets start my flyertalk career here. I got waitlisted for upgrade from economy to premiun economy and now when I go to my booking it shows HEL-BKK flight twice. One in premium economy waitlisted to business and one in economy waitlisted to business. 20k points taken. Is it just the way ay does premium economy upgrades or did they mess something? I dont mind being upgraded to business with 20k points, but just wondering.

Normal, when they touch some changes you see often two tickets. But about that biz, just wait and see U may end up lucky.

Their front system cannot recognize what you are waitlisted for - even waitlist for an Economy award will appear as Business.

Okay so finally some good news, AY have updated the way they display disruptions in manage my booking. It's much more clear now.

Downside is, some things aren't working as they should. For example, my connection time got shorter for the changed flight, while the page says it got longer.

Also, AY is again not transparent on consumer rights. They do not make any mention of ones rights and push them to accepting the changes. For this award booking they only seem to offer an option for (1) accept the flight (2) cancel and refund. It's that us frequent flyers know we can call in and have right to move to another flight. They are misleading loads of less seasoned travelers with this approach.

They are.

This may be a "technical issue" though, because you are not allowed to change an award booking in MMB anyway. I have no idea why, but there must be some underlying issue (a sane or a less sane one) that have made them blocking awards from rebooking.

They refer to a "cancellation", but it looks like a re-timing of flights. Still, I am only offered to accept the new schedule, no choice at all here. I am also told changes and cancellations can be done first after accepting the new schedule and then based on original ticket rules.
Also, here they have not detected that my transfer time has been lowered by 15 minutes, but perhaps there is a threshold so they only do this on shorter transfers

It was some time since I had flex tickets, so I wonder: Does the "Cancel flight" in manage my booking (and/or in app) work, ie is it possible to cancel a flex ticket online?
Or do I need to call customer service?

Does this also include request for refund automatically, or do I need to request it seperately?

For me, that link goes to a "dead" page, ie I can see it but there is no fields to add the surname/reservation, ie no way to track anything,
