I was wondering the same with Galaxy A52.

Since AY has been hellbent on getting everything to its own channels, it's quite ironic that these things are overlooked. Heck, I'd probably be happy to receive some upsell, if it was personalized and well targeted, something along the lines of ; "Hey SuloL, you recently searched for flights to [destination] on [date], we're now running a flash sale. Book now" OR "Upgrade space to our wonderful and amazing Nordic business class experience with carefully curated dining on our modern E190 aircraft on your flight to [destination] on [date] just became available. Add a bit of comfort to your flight now"

For the AY people reading this, PM me for my bank account number once you've implemented this and money starts rolling in.

On iOS I wouldn't go as far as to call it a disaster, but just a little lazy. At least I haven't encountered any functionality bugs per se, just questionable design. Follows the trend of these "lifestyle applications" where you have this blog post style content and can "get inspired in the app", but I'd posit that no one using the AY app is interested in that. Not every app has to be a news feed. Show things that are useful, the rest can be cut.

Oh, and according to a release note blog post I just got linked to from within the app, seat selection should be available in the app. I put in quite a few taps but couldn't get anywhere :)

Seat selection exists in the app for some years already.

Just don't select a seat when you book, then you can see the option in the app. If you have already a seat assigned, then there is no need for seat selection anymore. So there is no use for it in this case.

Interesting! Have to say, I've never seen this feature (also never booked without selecting the seat except for awards, so that adds up!). Have to give it a go with the next booking to get the full app experience :cool:

It really is not a disaster, no worries, everything works just like before. I have 22 flights coming and can keep all them visible, I really cannot understand all this moaning (maybe the Android one is crap but no issues with the iOS version)

I tried an older phone running Android (oxygen) 10: version 1.39 is shown as newest

And that now says updated aug 03. Did they "downgrade", ie re-publish the 1.39 with a new date?

If I check play store on web I'll get the same, but play store on my phone still shows a 2.0.1 version from 27 july.

Perhaps Finnar has targeted me this version as revenge for all my whining ;)

I change my seats all the time, because better seats might become available or because AY randomly changes my seat and I have to change them back to my preferred seats.

This functionality is missing in the app.

The interesting thing is that the function is just a link to finnair.com/fi-en/manage/view
They don't even try to hide it inside the app design, it is just a chrome window. I think the entire app is heading that way, it is just a collection of https links.

Which makes it even more strange the app has no functionality to change seats, because that is of course also possible in MMB.
But maybe next version of the app will have a deep link to change seats over hypertext.

Seems like its been an improvement on the AY site regarding the possibility to change award flights.
I have an award flight with a recent schedule change, now it is possible to find alternatives on the same day + day before.
I haven't actually tried to change the flight, I might get the "dog icon + sorry" .

The app's not a disaster. I mean, they removed the hamburger menu. That in itself makes it a win. :D
They are probably rolling this out in batches based on a backend driven feature flag. Meaning that all the latest versions of the app contain the new UX, it just hasn't been turned on for everyone yet.
