I'm can't answer this, I haven't gotten an update to the app on my phone. In fact, according to the Google Play Store, the app was lasted updated on 7.4.2022 with no update available to me.

I got on my Android the new version / new UI app about a month ago as well. (most ppl around me does not have access to it yet)
My only issue (that I've so far noticed) is that the counter for the tier progress does not work at all in the app, as in if I receive tier points from a flight, it shows up in the transaction list, but does not change the counter of how far I am from reaching the next level. If I sign out and sign back in, then it shows the counter correctly all the way until it should update it again. |
Another reason I am hesitant to upgrade the app. The non-upgraded app is showing my boarding pass for today's travel. The website, however, does not generate the boarding passes because it asks me for "covid information". I know that I don't have to present anything based on my destination and residence but the website asks me to enter my residence information and vaccination status and when I enter it the website does nothing.... Would not want the app boarding passes get stuck in similar IT dead end....

I've had flights to BUD and AMS since I have the new app and had no issues checking in and having the boarding pass in it.

I have to give a shout-out to Finnair's online booking system for their "Manage booking" aspect working well. Although I wasn't happy with the original booking process, a bit confusing in how it presented and added up the two segments on a RT fare, when a problem was discovered at airport checkin at DEL, while I was waiting in line at another counter to get it resolved, I tried the manage booking link on my phone, looked at a few options and managed to change my changeable ticket with no change fee or fare difference (thanks dor availability).
Orig routing: DEL -HEL-ARN-HEL-JFK (Aug 7)return: JFK-HEL-DEL (date not changed)Revised routing: DEL-HEL-JFKreturn: JFK-HEL-DEL (date not changed) What I don't understand is why they offered the one with transit through ARN first for no real reason. (And I booked it like a m0r0n without thinking about transit implications). Anyhow, I'm glad it worked and I didn't have to spend a lot of time or money sorting it out. Phew |
Suddenly I got the new app version too.
Cool! I now have 15 upcoming flights! I am so excited, because I only know about 4 flights! I wonder where I am going the other 11 times... Well, it seems they list any cancelled reservation since 2021 as "upcoming". |
It is great. It seems I’m waiting for thousands of Ay+ points. Wait…, those have already been credited to another OW programme.
|
Been using the new iOS version for some time, no issues with it, boarding passes ok for both EU/US, no ghost fights either, points and calculator etc. all seem correct.
|
Have had the new version on iOS for a few weeks now.
Haven't taken any flights with it yet. What annoys me is that "My journeys" shows me a grand total of 4 flights and then fills the rest of the space with upsells. I have 10 upcoming flights I would really like to see all of them before any of the upsells please. |

I have 10 upcoming flights I would really like to see all of them before any of the upsells please. In all seriousness, I do understand the logic of trying to upsell and sell more via the app, but if this "find your favorite destination" is their attempt of that, it's a pretty sad one. Seems more like app designers getting lazy and doing the usual "what should we put here? This page seems empty" -"Idk, no idea what might be useful. Let's fill it with blog posts, links and some nice pictures". For me, iOS app also in use for a few weeks, no problems flying with it. |
My favourite part is they added all the upselling but forgot to add such basic features as seat selection.

Perhaps the space devoted to blog is a demand from marketing. It is usually like that when setting the development specifications, "a little for everyone".
However, I agree it is lazily done. If you want to sell, create an "Offers" tab and put some deals on there, and maybe make them "AI"-curated to fit the member. But Finnair sales/marketing would have to actually work a little, you can't have an offers page and just put all destinations there at normal price-list prices. So that is unlikely to happen. Also, the "Stay informed" section could be better than just embedding some generic blog post found on frontpage of AY.com. How about making this related to the individuals' upcoming flight? Upcoming flights can be expanded with "Show more", and then all are displayed before upsells. As long as you don't quit the app it seems to stay that way. Showing only the first 4 is a bit too few IMO, but still a decent balance. Maybe 6 would have been a better choice, but maybe they are designing for smaller screens and have a desire to display both flights and upsells on first screen without scrolling. But even with just 4 flights there, the usage of screen estate is sloppy. Origin/Destination has been assigned ≈20 characters space, so I have a lot of flights labled as "Copenhagen - ". ie words that don't fit just gets dropped. Not truncated or shortened so you could guess. Nor using a new line for long texts. The same failure is in the details view. I guess they think you will recognize the destination by the image?! Destination images are just too small to be usable and at the same time too big because they occupy valuable screen estate. ON my phone, destination image and "Next page" arrow takes so much space, only 53% or available screen width is used for flight details. And one of the annoying issues from last version is still present. In the details view, where you always need to scroll down to get to the important informations, scrolling only works if you hit the exact right spot on the screen. You must first touch the flightnumber, and from there swipe up to scroll the page. Once you've don that you can scroll by swiping anywhere. (They seem to have extended the touch-first-space, so it now includes flight-number and the first text-item after, but you can't start scrolling from above the flightnumber or from below "Available for this flight"-section) And why not display dates in the date format of the user? |

Just an update. Finally, after 6-7 weeks the 3x points corrected.

Sounds like the update is a complete disaster. I hope I don't have to update the app for a while.
