Extras not popping up??

Sorry this is my first time flying AY and idk if this is a common issue but in manage booking on both the app and website I cant access the extras and specifically select seats. It's a multi-city trip booked thru BA and I have OW Emerald thru AA so wanted to use that benefit to select a comfy seat before I am assigned one at check-in.

Tried using Sisu and tried to get transferred to an agent but it wouldn't even let me in a queue.

Any advice? Or am I just going to have to wait for check in to deal with this

I'm not sure if this is an IT issue or a customer service failure but after a very short hold with the Finnair call centre my conversation went basically like this:

I hope you can help me ticket a multisector itinerary that I can't book online. I have done some research and know what flights I need.

Can you give me the departure and arrival cities and dates?

Its a Sydney to Los Angeles return but there are 4 segments each way and some long layovers/stopovers in Helsinki so shall I give you each segment separately?

No give me the departure and return dates

OK leaving Sydney on Sept 30 and returning from Los Angeles on December 10 in Business Class

On September 30th SYD-LAX the flight is on United Airlines

The itinerary that I have priced out online is a bit complex. Can I give you the flights I would like and if you can price it out I am ready to purchase.

Oh if you have a complicated itinerary we suggest that you book through a travel agent. You should go to something like Expedia.

I'm surprised. this is the first time an airline has told me that they can't book a trip through their own system.

Our system can't book complicated itineraries and you will need to book through a travel agent. Is there anything else I can help you with?

No, Thank you.

Wonder how much money AY is leaving on the table with its crappy booking engine. I was just booking a simple longhaul return flight (Nordics-US), and I got baffled since zero options for business class were offered when searching with the "all travel classes", i.e. default option. Upon further inspection, cabins seem empty, plenty of R bucket still on offer. The highest class offered with the default search was PE, however. Biz tix can be found if searching for them explicitly, though, but I was ready to take a look at the next best option as I didn't see availability with the initial search. Luckily checked EF and could see that there should be plenty of those nicer seats hidden here somewhere...

That is just terrible.
Not sure you would have been able to book it even with the old multi-city option they had before the last "enhancement" of their online systems, but I was under the impression they still had pretty decent options inhouse. Either they do, and you got one of the newly hired agents (with zero experience and 3 months of training) or they have actually switched internal systems to the same platform they use for online reservations.
Regardless, having a reservations department not being able to sell a ticket other than point-to-point seems ... pointless.

Quick question.

When you do check-in online on Finnair's Amadeus platform ... can you switch your FF at this point?

The thing that most astounded me was that she didn't even want to hear the itinerary let alone attempt to book it. It was basically "Origin , destination, date of departure, date of return. Anything that doesn't fit that paradigm is too complex - go away"

I did not have this problem when making multi-city bookings via chat in the last six months. However, I now need to make another one and can't even get into the queue...

After upgrading with voucher I noticed this in manage my booking:
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...10942ede4d.jpg

As I was sure there was U availability on the flight I first got pretty upset. I re-checked and there sure was availability, and in the app I was urged to pay 10k points to upgrade the flight.
Then the penny dropped, and I remembered the shorthaul is not included in voucher upgrades. So it is just the message that is confusing. Someone coded without knowing all the use cases. They have just assumed if a ticket is reissued with U class on some segments and original class on some segments, it can only happen when availability is lacking.

A bit sloppy.

To all those complaining about the Finnair IT, Austrian (and I assume Lufthansa/Swiss too) isn't much better, if at all.

What? Just changed a booking online on LH. Try that with Finnair. Finnair is the worst by far!

they should just include the feeder in the LH upgrade voucher :)

intuition May 8, 2022 7:41 am

Yeah that would be nice, but I guess the idea back when the vouchers were introduced was that you should use shorthaul voucher for that. So somewhat logical but makes upgrading entire journey more difficult as it needs to be done in two steps
