Depends on the layout of the fridge. When something like that happens to me (would have to be an old fridge as all the current ones here have solid shelves) I find pouring a little baking soda over what I can of the spill itself, wait a few hours for it to absorb any liquid and then with a paper towel or two at the bottom, chase the spill with a bit of warm water. Most of the time this works for me. When it doesn't, I repeat it again and that usually fixes the issue.

My fridge is fairly new (solid shelves) but if a liquid leaks out it surely gets a chance to drip down to the bottom. And fish smell is the worst. I am not talking about a small spot...scallops and other fish let go of a lot of liquid when thawing.

Looks good! Is Winn-Dixie actually marketing these as sea scallops? Theyre definitely not. They are bay scallops.

So if that's the case, I'd invest in some larger "deep plates". I sometimes use them if whatever I'm thawing has liquids that might leak out, It's rarely fish, but you'd be surprised how much blood some meats still have.

agreed. That's how this all started. It is a discussion about forgetting to put a dish/tray under a plastic bag when thawing.

That's one of the benefits of being able to enjoy life to its fullest - purchasing and enjoying scallops that you prepare the way you want.
