Meat loaf Wellington again .... with sandwich Branston.

I make a minced beef strudel which looks very similar but I fry the mince with onions, seasoning etc then roll like a strudel into puff pastry.

The meatloaf Wellington might actually be slightly easier as rolling the whole thing up without the pastry breaking can be tricky.

I'm going to try this

Just got back from lunch. Met Mrs BamaVol, stopped at a local deli for tuna on sourdough. Ate it at the city marina while we watched what looked like helicopter/boat naval exercises across the bay. I'm impressed with this deli; it's called Trigo and calls itself a "San Francisco style deli". I don't know what that means but I haven't had a bad sandwich from there yet.

Thai food including pad thai, bamboo/chicken curry, with the thai peanut salad. Yummy.

Coconut Water is a good source of electrolytes after a meal like that. I have of cases in the minivan.

I had leftover balsamic roasted veggies, so I made roasted veggie and white cheddar paninis. I also made some roasted cherry tomato soup to go along side.

That's great! This is one of our favourite meals (roasting a loaf today by coincidence for a wellington tomorrow) and it just seems so much better than using fillet beef ... and seems so much more luxurious. It seems like most of my favourite meals these days seem to be from inexpensive ingredients ..... except ribeye. Loin of pork, mince meat, belly pork, lamb shoulder, sausage meat, meat loaf, pasta, rice etc

By the way ... don't discard the odd change of scenery by substituting shortcrust. I like to brush with egg and sprinkle with course sugar, but I'm just common.

Vintage food day on a short trip to Kuala Lumpur. Randomly found a Din Fai Tung when looking for brunch, so promptly scoffed down some truffle xiao long bao, amongst other things.

Dinner was then some street-style char kway teow - amazing noodles Malaysian style.

Are you sure about that?

Went to Governor's Club in Cary today with my Dad for lunch. I had a Club Sandwich and a bowl of she-crab bisque. Not very impressive, what kind of country club serves a Club Sandwich with American Cheese?

Had an Oriental Buffet at Greenwood Inn for lunch today.

Honestly, it wasn't that great. I always go there hoping that they serve the killer lamb, but its been a few months now.

Or any cheese for that matter. I think we had an active Club Sandwich thread at one time with much debate on this topic. I definitely do not want cheese on mine

Spot on.
American cheeese should only ever be used for repairing worn shoes.

I wouldn't mind a Club with some Swiss, or maybe a Colby-Jack, but it has to be a cheese that an eight year old wouldn't use to make grilled cheese.
