This is completely OT, but you got me thinking about donuts. If you ever happen to find yourself in Kaunas Lithuania (don't laugh), there is a Soviet time capsule of a place that sells donuts you would not believe. I've not had better anywhere. Funny thing is that nothing, not even the staff, has changed in 30 years. Name is Spurgine, and they're on TA. Back to topic

I was at the post office earlier and noticed it's next to a grocery store. So I'm doing fajitas for dinner. I don't like peppers so I make mine with cucumbers.

Do you cook the cucumbers or use them raw? I don't know if I've ever eaten a cooked cucumber. I assume most people haven't based on the old expression "cool as a cucumber".

Dinner tonight and tomorrow will be grouper fillets. Tonight I'm letting a restaurant chef cook them. I'll grill them in the backyard tomorrow. Sides will be roasted butternut squash and asparagus. And beer, lots of beer.

What I did was I got the chicken going in the skillet until it was cooked. Then I drained out the oil, put the pan on simmer, chopped up the cukes and mixed them in with the simmering chicken to get them juicy. Then I mixed in the rice and poured it onto my tortilla. They'll get microwaved tomorrow when I go for the leftovers.

Stop sounding so chauvinistic....you make it sound as if she'd stave if it wasn't for your generosity.
I haven't been to Vienna, must go sometime. ^

I ordered my missus into one of our fields to get our lunch today.

Don't they have a lot of water though?

Oh, and in your Hungary trip report, you mentioned that you're from Rye. Ever eat at La Panetiere?

They are a bit watery but I don't mind.

And oh boy...La Panetiere, we had to go there every Christmas for an early dinner. Miserable memories, having to leave the new toys and stuff to dress up in a suit and sit around for 3 hours. The food was great though, I'd love to go back again now that I can appreciate it.

Oh and if you went to Rye High School and took French, once a year you got to go.

Yesterday I took her for breakfast on the Wiener Riesenrad and we wandered the park and had lunch at the Swisshouse again. We had ćevapčići, bratwurst and schnitzel .... and I had a few jugs of Grner Veltliner and she had a few Budvars. Evidently The SwissHouse serves more Budvar than any other establishment in the world.

Just for the record, DQ in Bahrain. The burger is much as I remember it from my childhood, but no Dilly bars or Mister Misty freezes here

Grilled squid and kwaitau in Wuxi, Jiangsu, China. Even though it is 130km from the ocean, the squid is about the best I have had.

Was at my parent's place yesterday and interesting, they purchased prepared Pork Ribs basted in BBQ sauce from Save On Foods. Coupled with Rib Eye steak and salad, it was great home cooked meal.^

I'm cutting out dessert nowadays as my last stand on sugar in my diet. I feel better already. I can't believe one little dessert can affect my well being. I've cut out sugar from all of my beverages, except perhaps Coconut water which is a natural electrolyte low in calories. We'll see how long I last doing this type of diet.
