Last night drank a can of Mango Kolsch from Clown Shoes. No taste of mango whatsoever, decent kolsch though.

Last week was at the Craft Bar at the beach. Tried Six Points Resin IPA. One of the 5 best IPAs I've had. Then Lexington Brewing's barrel aged peach wheat which was weird. Very strong bourbon barrel taste after 6 weeks of aging. No trace of the wheat, but a peach taste kind of like a brandied peach.

Supping with friends at the Brooklyn Athletic Club in Houston's eclectic Montrose district, I had a chance to sample my first Ballast Point Sculpin. I was impressed, although it's not a beer of which to knock back a 6 pack while mowing the yard.

Wicked Weed Pernicious on draft - absolutely spot on.

Don't know what's taken me to long to try it given I live in NC...

Angry Orchard Orchard's Edge "The Old Fashioned" Cider. Interesting, aged on bourbon keg wood, orange peel, and cherry. A little note of all three in the finished product. Worth a try.

Spending the week in Eugene Oregon. Went out for dinner at a fish market and chose a very dry cider, locally made. The went to a taproom in an old bank, First National something or other. Had a blackberry stout and a raspberry kolsch and tried a half dozen others. Details of everything are very fuzzy at this point. It's possible there is more information on receipts in my pockets. I'm about to leave the Hilton, hoping I can find the bagel place I walked past on the way home last night.

We have been to the Oakshire and Falling Sky breweries as well as Steelhead. Have also visited First National Taphouse and the Tap and Growler. I don't think I've tried anything from Ninkasi yet but it's possible I have. BamaVol Jr #1 did point out a bottle of theirs, a citrussy IPA and I may look for it tonight. We're going back to First National for trivia. We also visited a winery, Sylvan Ridge which I believe is the oldest in the state and makes a fine Pinot Gris. I also found a bottle of Austrian gruner veltliner in a gourmet shop and market for an early afternoon refresher. We leave tomorrow but it has been an awesome week.

King's Head here in Portland has it on tap now. No idea how long it will last - they change their list frequently (and have 35 beers on tap).

If you ever find yourself in the Boston area, I can point you to a few watering holes that'll most likely have it on tap. :)

We got there on our final day. Of ten taps, six were IPA, so that's what I drank. I also picked up a couple t shirts.

Hit the Rogue taproom at PDX on the way out and had a 7 hop IPA for breakfast along with a BLT that was missing its tomato. But who eats tomatoes at 9 AM anyway? :D
