We were out last night and one of the beers I had was from Destihl Brewery somewhere in Illinois. This one was a raspberry sour. I had previously tried their blueberry gose. I'm very impressed with their product and had researched a bit online after trying the first beer a week ago. Their facility looks amazing. Has anyone visited? I'm thinking of adding it to my travel wish list.

I drink Lagunitas IPA, Sierra Nevada pale ale and Guinness draft when I'm at home. When travelling, I drink the local beers.
In Vietnam, drink 33/333, Bia Saigon and Hue beer. In Singapore, drink Tiger, Chang and Calsberg. In Indonesia, drink Bintang. |
Mad River Brewing Slammin Salmon Double IPA. Not bad at all.

I'm working down the last few St. Arnold's Oktoberfests I had in the fridge. I also have a bomber of a Real Ale Belgian style blonde called "Nomad" I might open up tonight. I have a couple more days worth of beer, thankfully I stocked up before Hurricane Harvey. :p |
I miss Bells beer. Oberon is their summer ale and it has quite a following. People around the country celebrate Oberon day which is the day that Oberon becomes available every year. It was all I drank when I lived in Michigan. It's not available here in Massachusetts unfortunately.

Jumbo Juice IPA (Airways Brewing Company) @ AS C16 Boardroom SEA. Very good - my kind of IPA.

London Homesick Ale from Oasis Texas Brewing Company out of Austin. It was listed as an ESB but with only 27 IBU - no way. It was too sweet for me. Followed that with a Mikkeller Raspberry Blush sour to counteract. Also had a taste of the Mikkeller Fruit Face Dragonfruit and found it disappointing. I tried a dragonfruit last year and it had the same flavor but not strong enough.

Have put a lot of new beers in the fridge recently, all of the IPA variety and all quite good.

A couple Elysian Space Dust IPA's last night. It has remained the rotating IPA at one of my favorite local restaurants for 4 months because the manager likes it. The menu continues to say "ask your server" but that's just in case it becomes unavailable.
As far as I can tell, AB InBev has not ruined Elysian (yet) and despite all the downsides of macro brewer purchases of craft breweries, wider distribution is one upside. We'd not be seeing as many west coast brews on tap here in FL without it. |
