I tried Sam Adams Oktorberfest last night at the hotel bar. It was OK, nothing special.

My go to beer when home is Bells Oberon, or anything by Three Floyds.

When in California, I mostly drink Firestone Walker 805 or Karl Strauss Red Trolley Ale.

Ayinger Oktoberfest Marzen - seems appropriate for NFL opening weekend

Surprised and delighted to find a mini-key of Firestone 805 at an event last night. I'm more of a lager fan these days but found this quite drinkable.

Thanks for the Oktoberfest reminder, it is about time to look for the seasonal production here.

Ballast Point Dead Ringer Oktoberfest.

Really nice.

I met a couple of FTer evacuees last night at the Brass Tap in Panama City Beach.

My second beer was a Third Planet Bear Creek Bramber, a brown amber ale. It was a nice change from the IPAs and sours I have been favoring lately.

Was just given a case of various beers from D9 Brewing near Charlotte, NC. Looking forward to trying their sour ales (Whiskers, Viking, Escape Velocity, Systema Naturae Scuppernong/Lily). The sour beers I've tried (mostly goses) I've not been particularly fond of, although maybe this will change my mind.

Started off with an Abita Blueberry Wheat and finished with a 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon Wheat. And no roof. :D

Stopped by my local Hole Foods and grabbed some Knee Deep Breaking Bud, some Kern River Shuttle Bunny, and some Kern River Hop Nookie. All lovely and very delish, but that Hop Nookie, I'm giving it a special shout-out and kudos. A triple IPA that tastes like a double, no mean feat hiding that 11% ABV. Normally I shy away from > 8% ABV unless there's something really compelling, so you kindred spirit hopheads should be on the lookout for that.
