Had a neighborhood party (16 adults and 11 kids), and I wasn't sure on the types of beers the adults would drink, so I bought a variety. Here is the report on the number of bottles I put into the recycling bin.
24-pack Stone IPA sampler - 1 bottle 24-pack Stella Artois - 0 bottles 12-pack O'Dell 90 Schilling - 0 bottles 12-pack Breckenridge Brewery Christmas Ale - 5 bottles (three by me) Turns out, most everyone at the party had wine--except me. Lesson learned: just buy the Christmas Ale. That stuff is good. |
Tonight's treat will be Ballast Point Spruce Tip Sculpin IPA.
Made a reservation for a 6-pack of Lagunitas Undercover Shut-down Ale coming to my closest store on Friday |

Have you had Hill Farmstead's citra IPA? If you liked citra hops, it's for to be one of the top in the world.

Wish we could get Highland down here, they make some damn fine beers.

Aslin's "Volcano Sauce" today, which is a pastry sour heavy on blueberry and vanilla and lactose. It's been in the fridge for a couple of months now and has held up pretty well.

Before having a special delivery today of some Lagunitas goodies, we last night finished a couple or four of the Lagunitas Super Cluster Mega Ale, a full bodied DIPA very much to my taste. ABV 8.0%

Had a happy hour with the office govvies today (I regularly host one for fellow contractors), and was pleasantly surprised to see how many were serious beer geeks. I had great discussions of not just local breweries but ones around the US and even into Estonia (somewhere I've yet to go) with folks.
I had a couple of Solace (local to NOVA) IPAs, and they were actually pretty nice. |

I had a couple of Solace (local to NOVA) IPAs, and they were actually pretty nice. By coincidence I just got a mail from a friend suggesting we take a tour to a beer event in the Estonian capital: https://www.visitestonia.com/en/tallinn-craft-beer-weekend The Tallinn Craft Beer Festival the first weekend of May. It seems to be a yearly event. Having tasted many Craft beers in close neighbour capital Helsinki, it's comforting to see the reasonable prices in Estonia. Search for Estonian craft beer and be surprised over what this rather small country can offer. There are lot of places in Tallinn to keep any beer-profiled visitor busy on other days than the festival runs. En route to any pub, you might catch glimpses of the very beautiful city, especially the old town center nicely restored. |
Jasper Brewing Co. Crisp Pils 6-pack just because it's Sunday night.

Was treated yesterday with Marshall Zhukov's Imperial Porter, from Cigar City Brewing. One of the most powerful tasting stouts I had in years. Lots of Ommph in ABV too, 11.8%
