Hey, this is FT after all! That ought to be an easy score unless Pliny has become much harder to get in the past year or so (as though I don't see it much in VA, it was relatively easy to get in CA every time I was there last year). ;)

Finished a bomber of Rogue Chocolate Stout last night. I do not want to get up and go to work this morning.

Did the beer really cause that? :D

Nope, I'm coming off a 5 day weekend. I was drinking to forget. I actually woke up feeling great until I realized it was a workday.

I drank the final Funky Buddha Last Snow Coffee Coconut Porter from the February batch last night while handing out Snickers and Three Musketeers. I have 8 bottles of the September batch on the porch, but I have promised to mail two of them to BamaVol Jr #1 .

Not in my experience down here in SoCal. There was a time where PtE wasn't as appreciated and well-known as now, and one's diligence and persistence could yield a case every now and then, at reasonable prices. Nowadays, the sources usually charge what the traffic will bear, like $8 or $9/bottle, and customers are usually limited to one bottle per visit. Often, it is by request only; many stores keep the bottles out of sight, so you have to know and you have to ask. Too, some accounts get more than others.

Maybe up in Northern CA, around Santa Rosa, it's not so hard to get, especially on tap. But a family member lives in Chico, not that far from Santa Rosa, and it is nearly PtE-free. Apparently Ken Grossman (owner of SNBC) isn't sorry that RRBC isn't being distributed in Chico at the moment; there is backstory, apparently, but it shows that PtE isn't always easy to get, even closer to the source.

Anyway, there are more than a few IPAs which approximate the taste of PtE pretty well, and they are usually much easier to get and less costly. If I stumble on some PtE, I usually buy some (and text several friends to tell them where they can score some), but I don't chase it.

Final thought, RRBC is expanding, and one might hope this will result in PtE and all their other stuff being more available.

Last night: a glass of La Crema pinot gris. I love their pinot noir and had never tried any of their other wines. We were out at Captain Anderson's celebrating Mrs. BamaVol's birthday and wishing that our favorite seafood restaurant was open all winter (they close in a week and don't reopen until March).

What a coincidence: I also skipped beer last night in favor of wine.
