Opted for a Great Western Brewing's Original 16 Canadian Pale Ale as I was interested in the story of the brewery closure that prompted 16 workers to step up and buy the plant and go their own way. Saskatoon is where I grew up so the story has added ingredients. The beer itself is a lighter, hoppy ale without the same sharper notes of a very hoppy IPA so is a really good refreshing summer patio beer.

Chicago's Festival of Wood- and Barrel-Aged Beer has put out the call for volunteers. Best festival of its kind in the world. Work one session, get in another free.

There's about 40 -- 50 different beer types in my beer fridge right now (it's good to be a professional beer drinker).
I'd say the highlights are probably a couple of different breweries' four-year-old barleywines that should be just about at their peak, a five-year flight (two bottles each) of Alaskan Smoked Porter starting in 2001, and my last 750ml bottle of Raison D'Extra, the no-longer-made high-octane version of Dogfish Head's Raison D'etre. Some of the barleywines will probably be served with the dessert course (or as the dessert course for some of us) at Thanksgiving dinner. edit: didn't realise I was quoting such an old post. |

Currently sitting on a case and a half of Coopers Sparkling Ale (Australian), two cases of BeerLaos (Laotian), and a few bottles of Lagunitas Little Sumpin' and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

If I can ever shake the auditor on my tail here, I will be going out tonight in Pensacola with the plant manager who promised to take me to one of the breweries. If I think of it, I will snap a pic for the board.

Quite good - not as good as the Flying Dog Mango Habanero I had earlier in the summer but a good effort given my love of all things spicy Im a fan of that Ballast Point Habanero Sculpin also but its hard to find in my area .Just enough heat for me
