Nothing's in my beer fridge now because my plan to reward myself with a beer after each afternoon of yard work from the mixed six-pack I got from Mariano's got me through the last few weekends. There are more leaves on the ground now, though, and more that haven't fallen from the trees yet ...

Alberta's own Big Rock Brewery's long-time favorite Traditional Ale.

I guess I'm lucky my local liquor stores carry all four varieties (pear, strawberry-lime, berry, and apple). Guaranteed available in cans, and you can find at least the pear and apple in bottles (but incredibly more expensive).

What ever happened to "real beer"? Fruit juice is for kids. :D

A few bombers of Ninkansi Sleigh'r.

Maybe my favorite winter beer?

My total inventory at the moment: (all local D/FW Texas breweries)

Martin House Turtle Power*
Lakewood Vienna Lager
Martin House Bockslider
Deep Ellum Neato Bandito

Anyone familiar with this lineup will see that I'm transitioning from Summer-Fall beers. I only have two or three each of these left, then it'll be on to some Porters and Winter brews.

*One of my all time local favorites; a blackberry alt bier that clocks in at around 7%, and some of the proceeds go to turtle conservation. ^

12 bottles of Kirin (translation from the Japanese: Budweiser) Light. I was killing 30 minutes at Publix waiting for a prescription when I noticed beer on an end cap advertised as $8.99 BOGO. The fellow next to me was grabbing 4 six packs and I asked "Any good?" . Sure he said, although I'm almost certain I heard him say something to the effect of never having met a beer he couldn't drink as he wheeled his buggy toward the potato chip aisle.

I'm so ashamed.

Kirin is much better than Bud.

The Spec's near my house was having a fire sale, seriously that what the POS screen said, on a local microbrew. $2.99 for a 6 pack. The beer dept guy told me they bought too much. Figured I'd help them out by buying a case. :D

It's decent but not amazing, but at $3 a 6er, who cares?

I'm off to Italy at the end of the week for Thanksgiving, so hopefully will have a bit of a scouting report of Italian microbrews.

Went to Iron Hill Brewery in Newark, DE. Their Pig Iron Porter was nice, but I enjoyed their crab cakes even more.

Good luck. We were there in May and everywhere, it was Moretti and Peroni. Fortunately excellent wine was available everywhere. Same problem in southern France (Kronenbourg) and Spain (San Miguel, Estrella Damm, Mahou).

Semi-related, is there a similar thread for wine? My SO is looking for something particular, and I don't know anything about wine.
