That's sad. Your post reminded me of something. What is the normal price for a growler fill?

A local craft bar (called The Craft Bar, ironically) charges the same price for a pint as they charge for a crowler. One or the other seems out of line given the difference in sizes.

We are going liquor shopping this morning. Who knows what we'll come back with.

Spent Saturday afternoon at The Craft Bar drinking 4 ounce drafts, almost none of which I remember. Came home with 2 twenty two ounce bottles of Funky Buddha Last Snow porter. These will be reserved for special occasions. Also exploring my new found taste for ciders with a six pack of Strongbow Gold Apple. In addition, they were pouring samples of Cayman Reef Kona coffee liquor. Tried it. Liked it. Bought it. It was a nice additive to Sunday morning coffee and was very nice over vanilla ice cream after lunch.

If you want to try a better pear cider, try Magners.

I've mentioned it before, but I also recommend Rekorderlig Pear Cider. Another brand that you can't buy in the US is called Koppaberg. Swedes know how to make pear cider (for some odd reason).

Does Rekorderlig have a pear-only version? I've had the strawberry lime, and the berry, and although it's hard to find here in the US, I have been able to find it. Rekorderlig also comes in a bottle in the UK, and I wish those were available, because Rekorderlig from a bottle seemed smoother, while the stuff from the can is sharper. I tried Kopparberg when I was in the UK. It was pretty good!

RIP Karbach http://www.houstoniamag.com/articles...ton-hoppin-mad

RIP...Also I miss The Hay Merchant, always my first stop when I come back to IAH.

Since we're talking about beer:
Golden Stout Time from Big Shed
A random bottle of "Original" that friends brought over

I guess I'm lucky my local liquor stores carry all four varieties (pear, strawberry-lime, berry, and apple). Guaranteed available in cans, and you can find at least the pear and apple in bottles (but incredibly more expensive).

Is there a way to find out which stores have the bottles?

Next thing you know, I'll be hopping a flight to NZ. So stop posting all the pretty pictures.

After the requisite Funky Buddha Last Snow porter last night (which I will drink until the last keg in Florida is empty), I switched to Stella Cidre. Not the best I've tried, a little sweeter than I would like. I'm still looking for something I was given a taste of last winter, a mead-cider combination flavored with cranberry. Very dry and champagne-like. Anyone know what it was?

A six pack of Brew Free or Die IPA.
