I stopped off at Publix last night to pick up a prescription on my way home. I cruised the aisles looking for a few forgotten items and came across Magic Hat products, buy one get one free. They only had 2 styles in stock but I've never drunk anything from Magic Hat but their # 9. The other was Circus Boy and I'm not a huge fan of wheat beers anyway. So I brought home 12 bottles of Magic Hat # 9. Unfortunately they hadn't been in the cooler long so I drank a couple SeaDog Sunfish with dinner and will wait until tonight for my #9 . For those who haven't tried it, it's a pale ale with somewhat subtle apricot flavor.

Pacifico always reminds me of sunny days relaxing in a lounge chair by the ocean while on holiday in Mexico. Had to grab the moment, or 6-pack in this case. ;)

We were out last night and one of the beers I had was from Destihl Brewery somewhere in Illinois. This one was a raspberry sour. I had previously tried their blueberry gose. I'm very impressed with their product and had researched a bit online after trying the first beer a week ago. Their facility looks amazing. Has anyone visited? I'm thinking of adding it to my travel wish list.

I am drinking tonight a Miller's Ale House, the home of corporate craft beer. No $8 pitcher of Miller Lite for me but I am drinking Sweetwater 420 and Abita Purple Haze. My first choice was a local Porter but it wasn't in stock. I am in Pensacola and can do much better than this but my excuse is it's just down the road from my hotel.

For the eclipse, we hit almost all the Nashville breweries (we visited 6, and has beers from 3 more while dining out). I think I tried 54 local beers in the 2.5 days we were in town. I think Black Abbey was my wife's favorite, and probably near the top for me, too.

A friend gave me half a six pack of Sierra Nevada Tropical Torpedo. I like the regular Torpedo but couldn't finish more than half the first bottle of this.
I used to be a fan of Sierra Nevada but we're starting to have a falling out. |

I was at the Brass Tap for a couple last night. I started with Stone Tangerine Express IPA. Stone is the brewery of the month so this pint was half price. It was okay, a little on the light side and not as bitter as I usually like an IPA to be. Then I discovered that the bar had one remaining bomber of Funky Buddha Lemon Meringue blonde, a seasonal that I had somehow missed. Vanilla and lemon flavors and it did remind me of lemon meringue pie. At 7:00 my server brought me a taste of Stone Farking Wheaton W00tstout that they had just tapped. OMG. It tasted like someone had filtered cherry cough syrup through old coffee grounds and raisins. Not for me.
BTW, this is Rainbow Brite, my server last night. |
