Spent the day in Asheville. Began with a pale ale and a summer ale at Asheville Brewing Company. Finished with dinner at the Tupelo Honey Cafe, drinking a plum sour from Wicked Weed. I know they sold out but dammit they still make some fine beer.

tried this down in Rehoboth last week - way too sweet for my liking. Was just totally unexpected from what I usually get from Dogfish Head. Will admit, i didn't really read the menu before ordering..."oh, a new seasonal from dfh...sure I'll try it :(

Last week in the carib I was stuck with Corona, Red Stripe, Amstel Light and Heineken, and it was terrible. I used to like this stuff a few years ago. What has happened to me?
Glad to be back to my kegerator and Manor Hill IPA right now! |
I'm surprised they didn't try to hawk Presidente. Everywhere I went in the Caribbean, Presidente, Presidente, Presidente.

Drinking some Real Ale Gose today. Goes perfectly with a hot Texas afternoon.
It's very nice, not too sour for a gose. |
Funkwerks Tropic King
Great summer beer |
Cape Cod Beer Blond Ale. They were out of the IPA on the train.

Out for lunch ordered a Gulf Coast Backstabber porter to accompany blackened redfish sliders. Post dinner, ordered a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel ale for dessert.

kipper, I think your beers win the thread. I have no idea what they might be.
I'm in Boston, visiting a friend. :D |
Couple more from Aslin, one of the NoVA breweries: Aces Captain (a sour with apricots), and Accept Crime (a saison bordering on a sour, brewed with ginger).
Picked up a growler of the latter, so it's on tap for tomorrow, too. |
Newburyport Green Head IPA.

Publix seemed rather picked over in the craft beer section for the holiday. Too much trouble to head to the better places by the beach. But Sams had an oatmeal stout from Three Daughters over St Pete way. Unfortunately it sat in a warm car all afternoon while we went to the movies so I guess it's for tomorrow night.

Had several this evening, but Kindred Spirit's ThaiPA was the most interesting. It was an American-style pale ale with strong lemongrass, ginger, and a bit of chili flavor. It actually worked pretty well and wasn't gimmicky. The bartender said it was his least favorite of everything they had on tap, though.
