I have no idea why it was marked down. It's now in the beer fridge. ^

I'm so jealous of those who don't have to go to a distributor to buy beer. :D

Vicaris tripel, a new one for MrDV. A last-minute choice, he left it in the freezer just a little too long, allowing crystals to form. He quite likes the results.

Timothy Taylor Landlord, fabulous on draft and excellent when bottled. My (and Madonna's) favourite.

T.T. Landlord was awarded the #1 beer in Britain at the 1994 Great British Beer Festival. I was volunteering that night and it happened to be at my station. I hand-pumped like a madman for hours. Even got to serve one to Michael Jackson, "The Beer Hunter" and got his autograph.

Never liked Landlord much myself.

Just back from BRU. Brought home some Westy 12, various Cantillon sours I cannot get here, and a few other delights.

I drank my bottle of Great Lakes Rye of the Tiger today after mowing the lawn. It's different from a regular hopped beer, with a unique flavor. I liked it. I didn't know how refreshing it would be after some yard work in warm weather, but it was as nice as a dip in a pool. I like several of the Great Lakes beers, so I I don't know that I'd buy a bunch of just Rye of the Tiger right away, but I'd certainly buy another bottle or two again soon as part of a mix-and-match six-pack.

Good news for Pittsburgh (and means I'll be making more trips out that way...)

Drove 60 miles east and wandered around Apalachicola this afternoon. Stopped at Oyster City Brewing for a pint of their Honey Brown. Then lunch at Up The Creek Raw Bar where I tried a pint of their pale ale. Back to feed and walk the dog and now out to Little Village to listen to Tequila Mockingbird and drink Hoptical Illusion. Life is good.

Reloaded the fridge after drinking just about everything else I had listed...currently have:

-Founders Black Rye Ale (I like rye beers, and I like darker versions of beers, e.g. black IPAs, so interested to see how this turns out)
-Ommegang Nirvana IPA (a collaboration w/Boulevard Brewing in KC. A very even-keeled IPA in terms of hoppiness and flavor)
-Knee Deep Hoparillo Triple IPA (everything I've had from Knee Deep has been very good, so seeing how this beer goes)

Had that one for the first time last weekend at ZBF. Very nice, one of the best I had there.

That brewer also makes a prize-winning triple/gueuze blend, which I thought interesting. Brought home a 750 of that, 5 Euro.

We'll keep an eye out for that, thanks.

Any other lesser-known tripels/blondes you'd especially recommend?
