That explains my sudden change CDG-ATL in March. I just noticed this am. They moved me from a D1 closest to the window to closest to the aisle. I was lucky enough to find out in time to switch to the last even numbered seat. If these were originally flown around China I would imagine the plans would be dipped in Lysol before returning to service.

Thanks for posting. Too bad there's nothing domestic in there. I was hoping for a transcon improvement somewhere.

Delta consideration for coronavirus

Guys - I don't see this in the travel advisory but is Delta likely to allow us to cancel flights to India a month from now (they were purchased using Chase ultimate rewards travel portal)? Early reports indicate there have been quite a few confirmed cases and one family member has a weakened lung system making it high-risk for them to travel. What's the best way to go about this? is there a specific department? I'm fine with a Delta voucher to be used in the future

Thanks

You can always call and ask. But, DL:--- just like other carriers -- is trying to handle this issue on a systemwide basis through waiver / cancellation policies which are adjusted to the fluid situation. Unless DL is willing to cancel all tickets to India at whenever in March it is that you are currently scheduled, it is less likely to do so on a one-off basis.

Presuming that the answer is that you won't get a waiver now, I would wait. If the situation spreads or worsens, there will likely be a waiver and you can cancel then. If not, then you can make your choices based on the ordinary factors.

When I look at a globe, I note that no part of India is remotely close Wuhan.

Are you using a different map?

There isn’t even a travel waiver for Taiwan (I’m flying there Friday). Why oh why would there be one for India or would delta let you cancel without penalty?

I'm in India right now. There are only 3 confirmed cases of coronavirus in India so far - all people who had traveled to Wuhan. The government evacuated around 600 Indians living in the Wuhan area, and they are being held in quarantine at an army base near Delhi currently. So far, they have all tested negative for the virus, but they still have a week of quarantine to go. Even among the 3 positive cases, the papers reported today that 2 of them have already recovered - they are now testing negative. Presumably they'll be allowed to go home soon.

Which reports suggest that India has "quite a few" cases?

I have a trip Delta-booked trip SFO to Singapore on Monday Feb 17th. Singapore govt raised the Disease Outbreak Response System Condition to Orange, and my conference has been shut down accordingly (ironically a malaria scientific meeting) due to local nCV transmission and nearly 50 cases. As an infectious disease specialist, I believe it was probably the right move. Hoping for some Delta love on a refund, especially given the recent conference participant at the Hyatt there that spread the virus to at least 11 people after leaving Singapore. I had the upper deck of the KAL 747-8 booked from ICN-SIN as a present, but that is insignificant of course, sigh....

Have you tried calling and asking? Even if DL has not issued a waiver, they may still refund you or at least issue a credit with no change fee.

Yes I have spoken with DL. They have cancelled my flight and moved my credit to my Delta wallet, so far without penalty. They added notes to the case and suggest I wait until this plays out until using the credit. With the Covid-19 situation worsening each day in Singapore (8 new cases today) they may be more flexible. A professor at the university (NUS) where our conference was to take place has been diagnosed positive.

I was flying to a 10 day pet sit in HKG beginning of April using award tickets -- US-TPE and TPE-HKG using China Air.
First got a notice to a new seat assignment on HKG-TPE, plane swapped from a 747 to 737-8.
Yesterday got notice that TPE-HKG had been cancelled. Looked for a replacement and it appears that China Air reduced TPE-HKG to 2x/day from 5 or 6.
In any case, the pet sit got cancelled, the host found a local to take care of her dogs (assuming she can still travel).
I cancelled US-TPE and TPE-HKG this morning and miles were refunded.

NUS is a large and generally excellent university. Many faculty would travel internationally for research purposes, including to China, and some would have relatives in China, so it's not too surprising that some professor (or student) would have the Wuhan virus.

Kindergarten and school are the best place for virus transmission

China Eastern: JFK - PVG cancellations

https://us.ceair.com/newCMS/us/en/co...206_13972.html

I am on a J class China Eastern flight from JFK-PVG heading to TPE on April 22nd.

Turns out MU 298 & 297 (JFK-PVG routes) were canceled for April 22nd, but other MU flights (MU 587/8) were not. The latter flights depart JFK in the evening; the former very early morning around 1:30am.

Any reason why MU would cancel some flights in this route, and not others?
