Coronavirus - Emirates

Flew out last week from Shanghai and was amazed at the lack of searches / inspections despite being told to arrive 4 hours early. There was nothing at Shanghai airport, nothing inspected on arrival into Dubai and then my onward journey to Glasgow was exactly the same. I can see that Emirates are now refunding the passengers who are booked on mainland China flights, I guess its a matter of time when flights be cancelled similar to BA and others.

Nevertheless, here is a video which leaked yesterday:

and EK have cleared that up in a tweet today.

There is a pharmacy at the airport, not sure on stock levels. It also seems that the 3M brand is the one preferred by many for its quality, a lot of my Chinese friends have asked me to source it for them in the UK (to courier them back) but they are sold out all over including on Amazon. The few 3rd party sellers that have them have inflated the prices.

Interesting. When did you fly from PVG to DXB? The UAE airports started screening on 23 January.

I will be travelling to HKG in mid March and hope that the situation by then will have calmed down a bit.

I’m meant to fly to SIN early next week, and was wondering whether there has been any changes made thus far onboard? Eg: in J do they still serve some of the food around the bar (eg the fruits) without any cover? Do they do an extra disinfecting before boarding?

Flew out from PVG on the EK303 on the 23rd of Jan, connected onto Glasgow on the 24th of Jan via EK027.

First curtain or second? (I think I know the answer)......
And now don’t go and tell me you didn’t know there was another curtain a bit further back.

EK seems slow to act on reducing and or eliminating flights to mainland China, compared many other carriers out there. But then again, most airlines doing so are using this virus as a cover for poor performance...

I guess they see it as a financial opportunity now quite a few (mainly European?) airlines have pulled out

wonder what the loads are like for EK at the moment - perhaps enough to justify at the expense of their crew and staff ;/. I can imagine the flights to china arent busy due to the Chinese new year which ends on the 9th of Feb, so can imagine traffic to shoot up next weekend. Qantas and Air NZ are the latest ones to pull out today.

my better half just came back from pvg - both direction flights were full. Not that load factor says anything about financial performance..
