The rate in question is cancellable until 4 p.m. tomorrow, in case distressed room rates come into the equation (like this morning's sudden $65 rate for today).

I've been a *Wood guy myself, but I hear really good things about Hyatt, is there a link to some comparison somewhere? (I know do a search)(LOL)

What was great fun was being widely ridiculed and derided on the UA Forum when I posted a thread containing rumors (at the time) that TED was being axed. Some of the UA fanboys were ready to ride me out of the Forum on a rail for posting "unreliable" information. Good thing they proved themselves right. :-:

I don't know of any direct comparison but Faster Free Nights (called "The Next Big Thing" this year) is definitely a ^ promotion.

Doesn't Hyatt have blackout dates? Also, IIRC, suite upgrades (beyond a limited number of certificates) aren't necessarily enshrined as policy for top-tiers. Feel free to correct me, icurhere2, as you're definitely the expert.

Got teh DEN RCC Lounge Angel to put me in an E+ Aisle Seat to compensate for TED.

You are entitled to a CR-1 for the downgrade on a paid F seat. Insist on it. That's how I flew to HNL in F last weekend.

While I would like more coverage from the firm, what I can get from my stays in Hyatts (e.g. tonight is contributing to Park Hyatt Paris Vendome, free breakfast, free diamond check-in food, and free internet) makes me very happy.

I tried. A supervisor (via phone) with UA told me I was on a mistake fare and entered notes into my PNR to the effect of "no compensation."

Without going off on it my friend, we both know that many of the folks in the UA forum (with some exception of course ;)), tend to believe that the universe is restricted to ORD, DEN, LAX, SFO and IAD. I think its like a cult or something .... That's ok I guess I can sympathize. I used to drink the red kool-aid before those folks in ATL cut me off.:(

Hyatt removed blackout dates except for dates of profound demand. If there's a standard classification of room, it can be booked as an award. For the Olympics, I'm staying in SEA to book rooms as awards as well as use a suite upgrade at another Hyatt. Over the holidays, I'm staying in the Park Hyatt Paris all but one day, when I have to walk a few blocks to the Hyatt Regency Madeleine instead (another beautiful hotel).

Suite upgrades are four per year electronic and can be used on any qualifying rate (e.g. AAA or government in my case). There's also a paper upgrade cert that comes out with the packet, which has more restrictive rates. One can also redeem 3,000 points for a suite upgrade like the one described in the second sentence. Upgrades to suites are confirmed at booking - I know what type I have for the Olympics at the moment.

Breakfast is free for all diamonds in full-service hotels, as is morning coffee/tea service at Park Hyatts. Check-in amenity is either food/beverage or bonus points. Internet charges are waived for all elites. Plat starts with 5 stays, Diamond is 25 stays.

I have yet to either. But usually that has meant I've just booked on other airlines because they didn't have anything at the lowest level available.

I am thinking of burning some of my Hilton points in Versailles (France, not Kentucky). This seems to be an acceptable use of 40,000 points.

This used to be a Westin, which I desperately wanted to stay in before it switched to HHonors. It always received rave reviews.
