It's better than a Colgan Air Saab, especially if you can snag row 9.

Row 9 on the EMB-120 is great, for leg room. Other than that, I still prefer the Saab 340. It doesn't seem to have as much vibration and maybe it's just me, but it feels more stable in the air as well.

So far, I too have found the reports of nasty RCCs exaggerated. I've been in a few that weren't so great, but mostly they've been fine. I've also experienced nothing but niceness by the people working the front desk in those lounges.

UA requires either a government-issued photo ID or boarding pass with your membership card for entry. I've noticed that some agents at the front desk are just in the habit of asking for a boarding pass, because for UA members, it appears they can just scan the boarding pass (I witnessed this at DEN yesterday with three customers ahead of me in the entry line). But if you don't have a boarding pass, an ID should be sufficient. There are signs that I've seen at every RCC I've been in this month that indicate this.

I am surprised we don't hear many tales about the LGA Pclub here and its overall dank, dark, no view, nasty bathrooms on a regular basis. I know I've seen a thing or two about the bathrooms but the entire place is just....not up the the PClub line. It should be renamed the CO outhouse.

That's hilarious. A few times I've gotten "Oh, you're ConciergeMike...nice to meet you"

I get that a fair amount, though less now that I've met more people.

Paris - I put the ticket on hold last night. 100,000 SkyTeam USA miles and put together an itinerary with A330 WBC x 2 goodness. Also placed a hold on nights (got all but one) at Park Hyatt Paris Vendome last evening with points, which largely explains my soon-to-start Hyatt Place mattress run to earn FFNs instead of burning that many points.

Tonight's stay will also requalify me for Hyatt Diamond (four more suite upgrades) until 2011.

Congrats! That will be a nice trip, and I'm impressed anytime someone manages to get a reward itinerary on DL at the lowest possible redemption rate.

Now for IAH news...I was told a delay in the train extension from B to A terminals and looking like end of 2010 or 2011 before it will be active. it was supposed to be Q12010 when they cut the A to C shuttle.

What's the deal with that? There are signs in the A bag claim stating it's opening fall 2010, but the way that project has been moving along in recent months, I've found it hard to believe it was really going to take another year to be completed.

Too bad CO wasn't more involved in the construction of this segment like they were with the first two. They got the C-B section up and running in just over 12 months a decade ago, and the C-D/E section didn't take this long either.

Yea it looked to be moving along well to me as well, they have most of the concrete for the tracks poured up there now.

I never knew about a sign in A, I have not been outside security but twice there and that was just to waste time. (before I was a President's Club member and had long layovers)

Wow they are getting dumber by the day. It's the FAA that has taken action against the pilots not the NTSB. They must use the same fact checkers that CNN and Fox use.

The "before" and "after" juxtaposition is pretty funny, but that is the sheep business. The ewe lambs are mostly kept for wool production, but the males' fate, except for exceptional ram lambs destined for sale for breeding elsewhere, is the "after" mode at Union Square. Otherwise, inbreeding.

Heh. Me, too. Non-travel, I ordered a car. ETA is New Year's. Glad that's overwith, been thinking about doing it all year.

Ah, good. I feared from comments last night that you were already gone. To borrow a line from 'Witness', you be careful out there among the English. I'll follow the blog, but will not be tweeting.

Last night I played pool for the first time in a long while. It's a little like riding a bicycle: the muscle memory and eye are still there during periods of dormancy. Tavern pool is far better than a thousands of dollars, laser leveled, slate table in someone's house. When beer and a table surface that makes putting greens seem flat and true are thrown into the mix, then it's backgammon vs chess: intimidation and luck, added to a basic level of okay skill, makes for a fun time rather than a cold test of pure skill.

I still have yet to claim an award at anything other than the lowest level on SkyTeam USA.

I'm still in the car holding pattern. Will see how the current vehicle holds up, whether or not dollar coins come back to effectively use the Fidelity AmEx, etc. A replacement for the motorcycle I sold in 2006 was already on the list for 2010.

As of right now, I'm not going to post or even think anything derogatory about UA. I just read the "first flight on UA" thread. The OP's trip report was quite favorable, but what just struck me in the replies is that, as much as there is undeniably scorn on the part of some UA loyalists toward CO, there is much in the opposite direction as well.

So, I am not going to prejudge; there may, or may not, be plenty of reasons for complaints and lampoons in the near future.
