fozz, couldn't you also just originate the award from ORD? I realize the entire itinerary isn't "free" that way, but aren't NYC-ORD flights fairly inexpensive?

I'm going to try that tonight. I vaguley remember UA having some stupid rule that for Aussie you *had* to be on the nonstops from LAX/SFO.

If I have to drop the BKK-SYD/PER-BKK legs i have to use BD miles to book tose legs.

I figured as much. Still annoying given that the UA flight doesn't have any availability.

There is that list of continuing flight numbers in the :-: forum. Don't know how out of date it is, but TravelDesk could also help with that and be more current.

I forgot to add... the waiver that you have to sign for teh DO contains a clause stating that if your FlightMemory is chronically incomplete, you will not earn miles on your DO flights. :-:

the fine print says "If you provide airport transfer to and from the aiport as well as lounge and drinking facilities for  class passengers during long EWR layovers, teh Committee will turn a blind eye on incomplete flightmemory"

I am trying, and going to, keep an open mind with regards to UA. But there is an attitude of unveiled contempt for CO by of some of their FF's, as evidenced by comments in that forum. I fear that that hubris is going to be all too common among the employees, once CO elites begin to appear as customers with expectations of benefits. The NW relationship was the anomaly. The DL relationship was much more the norm, I'm afraid.

DCA-IAH-SFO on 02/06, SFO-IAH-DCA on 02/07. Only a quick overnight in DCA on the Friday night before the outbound. I get into SFO on 02/06 at 01:30pm, so this could be an SFO mini-DO with beer and schnitzel at Schroeder's German Restaurant.

Sounds like a good time!! I am actually doing a SBM12 and doing overnights.

I wouldn't worry about the UA folks. They've been so bruised that they complain and moan and then just take it in the rear.

Think of the UA folks as the old crotchety folks that despise change. They just need to feel that someone heard their roar and then they quiet down and go hide in the corner when they realize they don't matter.

I enjoy SFO too much as a destination to just do a turn. I'd rather have a day to enjoy it. By the time SPG starts discounting February reservations, it should be possible to score the Le Meridien, W, or Westin for $99-$129/night.

groovygrendel Oct 29, 2009 2:38 pm

For those doing the SFO runs, I'd be happy to meet y'all at 21st Amendment. The other half really likes their brews and even likes their canned beer.

Please let us know if you do see SFO rates drop to these levels. I will do the same.
