Some here swear by the EVDO cards. I have one (Sprint) and use it away from home, and am quite satisfied. That of course is a big advantage: take it along (if no one else is home who relies on it, of course.) Disadvantage: pricey.

For now, I'm at the Sheraton National ($99) in DC and the Westin ($119) by SFO.

Then we'd be up a creek without a paddle. Cab prices in SFO = :td: so I'll be staying by the airport.

It's only about $35 IIRC from the financial district/Market Street to SFO.

That's about $32 too much :p

I would avoid that 4P, as it's in kind of a sketchy area.

The best hotels at SFO IMO are the Marriott, Hyatt Regency, and, to a lesser extent, the Westin SFO. I stayed at the Hilton recently, which is the old Sheraton, and it's not terrible because it has very newly renovated Hilton-style rooms, but is otherwise kind of blah.

I think I'm going to do Sheraton Crystal City (closer to DCA and a Metro stop) and the Westin at SFO.

Yes, but the BART costs $8 each way now. If two or three of you split a cab, it would save a lot of time. BART at night is a real slog because you have to wait for the train, ride the 35 minutes or so out to SFO, then linger around waiting for the hotel shuttles to show up. The whole process can easily take 1.5 hours at night.

I want to come back to the box! But I need a bit of help...

We have recently moved to a slightly bigger place (due to the upcoming arrival of Ms. Enmascarado Jr.), but finally out of campus. When living on campus, we had blazing fast internet access for free, but now it is time to grow up, and get my own home internet access. And there is where I would like your help...

We do not watch much TV, and we are not thinking about getting cable. So what should we do for internet? Comcast? AT&T? Any other options I should consider? Any experiences or recommendations will be welcome.

I need to get internet access at home soon, to play in the box more often! I miss you guys!

With the arrival of your darling girl, you just might want cable because you are in for alot of long nights and days without sleep. There isn't any way you can use a computer while attempting to walk your baby asleep and a TV comes in handy for passing the time while pacing the floor or feeding the baby. Congratulations.

I use AT&T. Rarely have problems.

If we split the cab it's no big deal, but I'm not sure I will be able to hang with the power of ALCO. ;)

For anyone currently using the Search-O-Matic tool please download a new copy at your earliest convenience. I've fixed (I think) a timing issue with the *A search that would cause the counter to just roll off the end of the screen and never return results. Other stuff is probably better than the version you have, too, but that's the main improvement right now.

Anyone who also wants to play with it can grab a copy from the link above.

Westin SFO is fine. I got overnighted there when my UA 744 to SYD went tech (for a nice, 22-hour delay )

I'm like one click away from booking PHL-CLE-PHX-IAH-PHL same day on 12/7. I guess after the MegaDo miles post and I'm Silver, I could call ahead and ask for Gold to improve my odds on EUA's for this?

Quick ? for the Box. When searching on .bomb which is the interface that shows all the upgarde inventory? Is it the mobile site or the regular site or what? I have my account set for "expert mode" and on the regular search I see all the revenue buckets but not upgrade buckets.

ETA: I found it. Time to upgrade Search-O-Matic.

Just up from my nap - I have trouble with the shifting of the seasons in the fall. Decided I deserve shrimp and collard greens for dinner.

Greetings from the Alaska Boardroom at PDX. :D

Very glad to be here, instead of where I was earlier. You see, I had chest pains this morning and ended up going to get checked out at the hospital.
