I had a great sushi experience in HNL at a hole-in-the-wall place called Morio's. In Tokyo (assuming you head into town) I found that the "good" sushi places around Tsukiji were way better quality than the sushi bars that were all picture menus. But there is something about the experience in the latter that was fun. My second day I actually did both in a 2.5 hour span. :D
