Does anyone remember who operated the Continental Express ATR-42 flights between EWR-PHL in the mid-late 90s?

I did EWR-ACY on an ATR-42 and saw my house (at the time) during the flight. We flew right over the lake that was about four blocks from my house.

Good Morning, Box. I'm working early...there's more staff than guests in the lobby right now.

Yep, until January 2001 it was Continental Express. After that the operating certificate was changed to ExpressJet, although it remained a fully owned subsidiary of Continental for quite some time after that point.

The ATRs remained active at IAH until around late 2002/early 2003.

No busy day for me yesterday... just recovering from a weekend of guests from London and hosting a huge deck party for them at our house. "Working from home" this week (M-W), then heading to NOLA on Thursday for a weekend of debauchery and whatever other trouble we can get into.

Took tons of grief at the party because we are flying CLE-IAH-MSY so that we can sit up front of a real plane (757-300 and 737-700). Our friends are flying the EMB direct. Oh well... their loss :)

I didn't know CLE had 757's. Thought it was all 737 and RJ. :p

 We have a real airport!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Actually, there are decent number of 757s here... to IAH, LAX, LGW, CDG, EWR. Sadly, to ORD, all we get is a nasty CHQ ERJ.

Oh well... I wish that coffee would brew faster this morning.

IAH-CLE often gets the 753. And it's often very full. As a Platinum last year I missed an upgrade on that plane on that route (but I ended up getting the upgrade on a later flight that day anyway because my flight into CLE was canceled and I had to be rebooked).

The fact that this is all self-inflicted is all the more . Why didn't I opt for that career in Pirate-Bartending? Why?!

Ack! That is pretty awful.

My last trip thru CLE was in the winter , I was in California and had to fly to ORD, so i took a CO flight LAX-CLE-ORD.
It was about 75 degrees when I got on the plane at LAX and rainy and freezing when I got off in CLE.
The planes, the runway , and the people at CLE were all real :D

I will be transiting your supposedly real airport again in a few weeks. I actually like CLE, but it's too easy to join in on the bashing.

Yes - we routinely take a lot of ribbing from people. It's actually a pretty nice place to live. The cost of living is awesome, and thanks to CO - it is very easy to get to just about anywhere.

But even our friends from London this weekend asked if we could make the river burn again. Argg... are we STILL on that? :)

Thanks - that's what I thought but in my searching I kept reading about other regional carriers that were operating the ATRs (Bar Harbor, PBA, Britt, etc). It looks like those were all in the 80s and early 90s.

I suggest you buy stock in Starbucks. I think they'll see a sizeable jump in profits attributable solely to me in the next quarter. :D
