I take it this was your ride to the fabulous city of JAN?

No - took a bump from my DCA-ATL flight that was oversold by eight, then did DCA-CVG-ATL, with the DCA-CVG segment operated by a CR2. I also had forgotten how absolutely crappy the Comair terminal at CVG is. The regular terminals at CVG are no prizes, either, but they beat crowded ATL.

No kidding. Earlier this year I did CVG-DFW on a CR9. That terminal is a pit. It wasn't helped by the fact that the CRC there was closed on Sundays, so I had to schlep all the way back to the main terminal after having trekked there.

This talk of DL and CRJs has me depressed, because I know that's going to be in my future next year on a weekly basis. :(

COFlyerCLE Aug 13, 2008 8:15 am

I'm getting my first CRJ ride today (CLE-RDU) in probably 6 or 8 months. Luckily, the flight is wide open, so there will be room to spread out.

Adding RDU to my Flightmemory today... and after adding TYS two weeks ago. It is good to add new destinations (for work) :)

I injured my hand playing goalie in a soccer game last night.
One Handed typing with my left hand is not fun

The bump voucher story has inspired rules as to its use, seeing as how all of our travel as a couple has been to somewhere in Florida.
  • 1. Travel must not have anything to do with anywhere in Florida.
  • 2. If on a connecting itinerary, CLE is not an option, as it's on the map already.
  • 3. The resulting dots from this trip would ideally not be on my map at all or at least be a different way of getting to an existing point.
  • 4. Rules 1-3 are null and void if I don't take her with me, because I'll go somewhere new regardless.

Portions of the post that previously appeared in this space have been deleted. I would provide you with a reason why, but doing so would likely be against the TOS.

PHL-IAH-[SFO|PDX|SEA|YVR] and take the other half with you.

Thought of all of those minus PDX and plus PHX and SAN- we're aiming for 3-4 days, and she doesn't want to "go all that way just for 3 days" - she's saying it like we're using the Pony Express. I've gone to FLL for the day - twice. I don't get it. It's five hours...and I'm looking at it as doing her a favor by not putting her on an EWR nonstop because she's not a good flier. A connection, in that context, should be viewed as a break from the metal tube. But no: "Mike, just get me there."

I want golf by myself, or in company of Box denizens, at BHM. It is a $300 bump, so I would like to get some decent LFM out of it -- I don't travel enough in a year to sweat an EQM count.

ETA: We're looking to do something in February, and she actually asked me what would happen if there was a blizzard. Her mother asked if the van service would no-show our pickup if there was a blizzard on the day we went on the Disney odyssey last Feb. These people (read: her family) don't know how to travel. Nice people, but don't ask them to fly.

RDU is a rather dumpy facility, and CO uses some gates that were cheaply tacked onto the end of the terminal a few years back. As a result it's kind of a long walk from the CO/NW gates to the nearest restroom, and to the exit to baggage claim.

At least their new terminal that is currently under construction looks nice.

Business must be slow for limo rental companies this weekend. The place with the best prices was out of 8-Pax Lincolns, but offered to price-match a 10-Pax Chrysler 300C Limo ^. I hereby disclaim any responsibility for an interior that may or may not contain crushed-velvet tiger-stripe upholstery.

For IAH-based Box Patrons (and anyone else that's interested) that aren't getting in on the Baseball Game portion of the DO this weekend, we have some extra space in the Limo for the Goode Co. Taqueria and St. Arnold's Brewery Tour portion of the DO (from approx. 11:45am-03:30pm on Saturday). The cost would be $45 ($40 for the car service, and $5 for the Brewery Tour). Send me a PM if you're interested.

I didn't know a limo was included in the Ballpark DO - pretty impressive. ;)

No sense spending an equivalent amount on cabs when we can get there in (dubious) style. I don't recommend driving after a visit to the St. Arnold's Brewery.
