I did do the Alamo on my one day of freedom - the day after graduation. I told myself if I was going to make a Couples trip out of this voucher, I had to pick someplace that has no temptation of golf. SEA has some good golf, but I'd much rather go back a second time for golf and get the tourism stuff done the first time: Pike's, Space Needle, Boeing, etc.

Ugh. I overslept, and I have about a billion things to do in the next four hours before I need to be headed for ATL. At least some of the work crap can get done on my YX flights tonight, which I much on freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.

It's a shame that their Midwest Connect subsidiary that operated Do328 Jet aircraft wend out of business back in April. The only option left for catching a ride on a DoJet is Hainan Airlines, and their present order for over 100 EMBs doesn't look promising for their future...

I am not a SAT fan. The only attraction there that I enjoy is the Frio River/Gardner State Park and technically it isn't even in SAT.

I need to book a last minute ticket to CRW and CO.com is showing $1,046  but Expedia shows the same flights for $600. Do I buy on Continental and then call Continental.com support and ask for the price match? Why such a huge difference?

Seattle is a wonderful destination. But if you go, do be sure to get out of the city for a couple of days. The city is great, but so are many of the nearby mountain areas. I highly recommend Mt. Rainier, North Cascades National Park, Mt. St. Helens (if you don't mind the long-ish drive down there and back), and Olympic National Park. Oh, and if you want to flight-see, there's an air service that flies single-engine float planes off a couple of the lakes right in the middle of Seattle up to many of the Puget Sound islands.

Take the ferry to Victoria and have high tea at the Fairmont Empress. Girls go nutty over that place.

I flew one of Midwest's Dornier 328 back in 2006 from MKE to DSM. A thrilling route...

I just scarfed a delicious breakfast taco.

Back on the topic of private planes... my boss has a Citation X. I really, really want to hop a ride on that baby.

My old boss had a cessna 172
He took me flying a couple of times , I was in control of the plane for a few minutes , no pedals and we just flew straight.
It was pretty cool .

Why does it have to be a couples trip ?

I would do that in a heartbeat, but I'm still working on her to have faith in non-jet equipment.

It's amazing what we put up with, isn't it?

In other news - I received the envelope with my CO worthless discount certs for renewing the Chase MC. Where's the PClub passes? Do they come in a separate envelope?

I guess I can't complain too much about the certs. I'm once again carrying the Chase card for free this year. ;)

Since you have obviously been to Victoria...any suggestions on things to do? I am spending a day there next month (arriving by sea plane in the AM and taking the ferry back to Vancouver in the afternoon) and so far all that I have planned is a visit to Butchart Gardens. Suggestions for a lunch location would be appreciated as well.

I discovered yesterday that my PHL-SWF flight back in 1997 wasn't actually a Fairchild Metroliner, as I had thought (this was before I started keeping obsessive records of my travels :o). Turns out it was a BAe Jetstream 31.

I just realized the flight I'm on, on Sunday is a PrivatAir 73-7. (How did I not realize this earlier...?) :o

Anyone ever done this flight before? Too bad I don't do FlightMemory, this is a gem.

Wikipedia references some interesting nicknames for the Fairchild Metroliner...

The Metroliner cabin is characterized by a long, narrow fuselage, giving rise to nicknames like the "Texas tampon," "tube," and "lawn dart".

A BAe Jetstream 31 is certainly a rare pickup. ^ Who operated that flight?

It doesn't necessarily have to be, but she is nowhere near as travelled as I am, and I want to open her eyes to getting out and seeing places. She's used to the standard-issue 7-day family vacation and I'm out to break that idea. This trip in September is the first time she's connecting. I think I'll repeat that: This trip in September is the first time she's connecting.

She protests the way I plan trips (morning flights out, late flights home, somewhat structured ideas about what to do once there so there's no wasted time) because she always went on vacation to do nothing and relax. I despise doing nothing somewhere else because I can do that at home and have more fun.
