Trust me, you have not seen expensive till you visit Zurich, nothing is cheap in Switzerland and that is with the dollar having a slight edge over the Swiss Franc.

We went to Switzerland for a ski trip in HS and we stopped for food on the way to our final destination. 90% of the van voted MacDonalds, where we had 10$ hamburgers. We all wanted a little taste of home as where we lived did not have a McDonalds yet! They invaded a couple of years later though.

It was like that in London too. When we arrive in LGW, we were hungry but didn't want to miss the next train into the city so we went on without eating. By the time we got to our hotel in King's Cross, we found a Burger King and went for it. $14 later, it was the worst fast food meal I've ever had, outside of a burger from a Dairy Queen in Karnes City, Texas. We then learned that Europe is full of great food, except fast food.

I love the Olympics. Where else do you get to see so many sports that should only ever be carried on ESPN 8 - The Ocho.

I watched men's field hockey yesterday (GDR-NED) and am watching men's table tennis now (CRO-SWE). The table tennis is insane. I wonder what has to happen to someone in life to decide that they are going to be a table tennis coach as a career. Do you wake up one day and realize that you just can't live without bringing ping pong to more of the world?

Yes, I am bored this morning.

I never knew that men played field hockey...that was exclusively a girl's thing in high school, and it wasn't offered at the colleges I went to. Table tennis does not even deserve a TV audience.

Someone should introduce beer pong as an olympic sport.

I don't know... While it doesn't hold my attention for long I think it is fascinating to watch sometimes. They get pretty intense...

I can imagine that many Fraternities would be on the Olympic team.

The ones I really don't get are the race walks. 20km or 50km are long walks, certainly... but hey, I didn't get synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics, but they stuck around.

I will admit that while the men playing were clearly in good shape, I find the women playing more entertaining to watch. :D And I had no idea that there was men's field hockey until I turned on the TV yesterday afternoon.

Now that table tennis is over (the 42 year old guy Sweden won, with an excellent cheering section on hand) I'm watching men's beach volleyball. Again, I find the women more pleasing to watch, but I'm also hugely entertained by this match. The team from Georgia apparently are hired guns who were enticed to emigrate to the nation to play on the team. As part of their emigration they changed their names to "Geor" and "Gia" to represent their nation. They're not too bad, but the Brazilians are crushing them thus far.

The Ocho That makes me wonder why dodgeball cann't be an Olympic sport? It would draw bigger crowds then table tennis.

Got to love the Olympics I am a big fan, love to watch the swimming events, I was on swim teams for years and its the only time people will pay any attention to the sport.

Synchronized swimming is gone from the Olympics after this year.
