Since NYC is the only place I get to travel for work lately, it's my favorite.

And swimming in alcohol sounds good right about now. When does happy hour start? I'd even take non-happy drinking.

I like DEN and BOS for domestic stuff. I'd also like to do more travel up to the northwest but there isn't much need for my services up there.

Does PIT have any kind of club that a PC member can enter? The CO.com page for clubs doesn't list a club at PHL but there is a CR there... Just wondering.

WAS, BOS, CHI and NYC are all great for work travel. And this summer in NYC has been fantastic, particularly the past month or so, with reasonable temperatures and no real heat wave to speak of. I've had my windows open instead of the a/c running for the past couple months.

I did a few months in downtown MCO and was not a fan at all. Clearly I didn't find the right places to eat or go out like baglady did.

MSP isn't bad either, though if you're out after the skyway closes down in the winter that can be bad, and one of the segments closes at 9pm.

While I don't travel for work anymore (:() I used to frequent SFO. With the exception of my upgrades never clearing, I thoroughly enjoyed SFO and the entire Bay area.

Nope, only a US Air club.

sbm12, if you go back to MCO, let me know, and I'll give you a list of all the places to go. I'm typically there every three weeks; but since SGN and various hot spots in China have over taken that, I've been there a bit less.

You mean you don't like walking around downtown Minneapolis when the snow is piled four five high, the wind is blowing, the actual temperature is around -10°F, and the wind chill is down around -25°? What's not to love about that experience? ;)

As for my favorites, well, my work sends me to some real sh!tholes at times. But a few years ago I lucked out with a few weeks at a client in The Bronx. So every evening I headed straight for Manhattan to hang out. I could never get tired of going to NYC.

I also found myself loving the Twin Cities during my very frequent work travels there in 2006-2007. There's a lot to like about Minneapolis and St. Paul, and while the winter drug on and on and on and was pretty miserable at times, those cities can be absolutely beautiful after a fresh snowfall. And it was fun to actually experience a real winter, since down in Houston, winter is more like the rest of the country's spring or fall.

And once or twice a year work takes me to the Denver area. That's always fun too; nice downtown, some good restaurants, and the mountains are so close it's easy to tag on a day, or even half a day, at the beginning or end of the trip and do something fun outside the city.

I've also had some fun work trips to San Diego and Boston.

I must say, i've been in Pasadena for the last six weeks and possibly for the next 4 months (that's a whole other story) and i'm pleasantly surprised. I drive my car in and then don't need to take it out all week until head back to the airport, it's amazing that I can walk to everything. Plus, if you can make it work, fly in/out of BUR and you avoid all the hassle of LAX.

The Bay Area is always good as I've spent a lot of time there. If you can get up there, Walnut Creek is a cute little town.

Last year I got stuck in MCO for three months in the dead of summer. The icing on the cake was I was working for the rat and couldn't avoid all the insanity, though at least I was on a back lot. Needless to say, I try to avoid MCO as much as I can.

Internationally, i'm a big fan of LON.

I never have to go there for work, but I love London. Every time I'm there I think "I could totally live here." And honestly, if work would let me live there and buy me BusinessFirst tickets back and forth across the Atlantic, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Sure it costs a fortune to live there, but there's just something about that city that draws me in.

It's funny. I may have been born and raised in a small backwater town of less than 3,000 in rural Southeast Texas, but I'm definitely more cut out for big city life.

+1 London is a wonderful city with incredible food and a very diverse population.

Well, I almost picked up another gig for the same client and on the same project but with a different consulting company, but when discussing it with my handler at the consulting company we decided that since I was on the initial team that couldn't make the product work (not my fault, but the result of the efforts nonetheless), perhaps sending me back in with a different logo on my business card probably wasn't the best approach to the long-term success of the engagement.

I'm sure I'll get back there eventually, and I'll come calling when it does happen.

I've never had bad food in London. Yet I hear so many Americans who've been there ..... and moan about how bad every meal they ate was. They obviously were going to the wrong places, because I've had some wonderful meals in London.

Same here. I was only there for 4 days but did not have a single bad meal. The food there is a bit expensive though (the $ to pound conversation doesn't help)! Quick lunches were $30+ for 1 person (alcohol not included) and dinner was easily $60+ at standard restaurants (again, alcohol not included).

I've only been there once but I had a series of good meals. I also had a couple of mediocre meals, but that is to be expected at the places where the mediocre meals were received. Think theme park concessions. All of the actual restaurants and other food we had was not bad at all. Great food in Ireland as well, except for the blood pudding.

Walnut Creek is my neck of the woods. Let me know if you're ever out this way as DH and I can meet you at Pyramid Alehouse.

I loved living in London. Granted, it was 15+ years ago, but I have great memories.
