Ok, I'm going to make martinis. Who wants one? I have Ketle One and Grey Goose.

No BC-stuffed olives though :(

Yes, if airport matters (ORD vs. MDW), then you certainly could not use WN.

I will take a Grey Goose martini, up with a twist.

Ketel and cranberry, splash of club.

I still for the life of me don't get the WN hostility. Sure, I can dig the no F thing. But is that the ONLY thing?

I am with you, ever since watching that show "Airline" on A&E I have decided to never take part in that catle call airline. I would however be willing to give JetBlue a try or VirginAmerican.

Yes, but VX and, to a lesser extent, B6, appear somewhat more attractive as the legacies continue to erode FF benefits.

The lack of assigned seats is a dealbreaker for me.

In my eyes, their reputation was damaged on that tv show they did. They idb to everyone and claimed they were etoh. Just left a bad taste in my mouth. I have friends who swear by that airline, kind of how I am with co.

I can see people shying away from some of the lunatics that the gate agents had to deal with, but it's also a TV show that was ratings-driven, and no airline is immune to lunatics during IRROPS. Of course they're not going to show 22 minutes of normal checkin and flying. The guy on the show the other night who had waaaaaaaaay too much of an obsession with his cat was a great example.

Sorry, in emergency services ems/pd/fd we use ETOH for drunk.

I've flown WN a lot over the years, starting with my very first flight in 1978. They've changed a lot over the years, and I think they've made major improvements in the last 5-6 years in their product.

Things I like about WN:
  • Their people are always friendly. I've never encountered a grumpy WN employee. Ever.
  • Their seats are pretty comfortable, with nice padding, leather seat covers, and decent pitch (most seats 32"-33"). I can sit comfortably in a non-exit row seat on WN. I can't say the same about CO.
  • They're very efficient. Nobody boards a plane faster, and there's usually no delay between push back, taxi, and takeoff (with the exception of the occassional ATC hold). The same can be said after landing. They hussle to get the plane from runway to the gate very quickly.
  • Checked bags often arrive very quickly at baggage claim.
  • They have the only mainline service that remains at a pretty significant number of airports.
  • You'll always fly a 737.
  • Non-stop and point-to-point routing that nobody else flies.
  • Recently improved gate areas, with leather PC-like lounge chairs that have built-in AC and USB outlets for charging your electronics, work tables with bar stools with the same outlets, and separate family areas to help keep the kids away from the adults who don't want to deal with them.
  • New and improved boarding process that has virtually eliminated the camping out at the gate syndrome that so many WN passengers had.

Things I don't like about WN:
  • Still no assigned seating.
  • At times the jokes can get a little old.
  • The worst airline coffee EVER, and on early morning flights they seem to only want to serve that swill or their equally nasty reconstituted orange juice.
  • Direct, through flights on point-to-point routes between airports that other airlines would serve nonstop. This, however, is how they're able to fly 737s to places like LBB and MAF. But there are times when the mandatory stop along the way gets old, and adds significant time to the itinerary.
  • No international service.
  • No first class.
  • No options to use a Rapid Rewards award ticket on another airline. Granted WestJet is coming as a partner, but I still love being able to use miles for intercontinental awards in a premium class of travel.
  • Rapid Rewards has become increasingly harder to get award flights with; I think it's worse than OnePass in some markets.
  • Screwy scheduling systems that don't allow what any other airline would consider a perfectly valid connection.
  • Lots and lots of passengers who never fly and are clueless about EVERYTHING. I find this to be worse on WN than any other airline I fly.
  • No IFE, no meals (but they do have some decent snacks), no power ports on the planes.
  • No lounges.

Per some link somewhere:
Acronym Definition
ETOH Ethyl Alcohol

Or, someone to drunk to spell the acronym for "On the other hand" properly:D

My mother is in DEN right now...landing EWR 1114P tonight if she takes the flight. She booked a $99 HI at EWR, not wanting to drive home that late after flying. CO offering $200 VDB, hotel, and F tomorrow. I told her to eat the $99 rate and take the goodies, as the goodies outweigh the loss on the rate, IMO. She tried to cancel the HI and it's past cxl time, said no. She's going to try and counter the GA and say more VDB $ with no guarantee of F. Short of countering the GA, is my logic sound?

It will cost CO more for IDB. If she can get $300-$500 VDB + F + hotel + meals, do it.

I would do it for that too (actually less...$500 and Y would have sold me) but it's a moot point. She called me to say she kept her exit row - CO only needed 3 people, and 2 of them got endorsed to UA for DEN-LGA.
