Wow, I got quoted in USA Today's article about CO's changes to OnePass and the new checked baggage fee yesterday: Continental drops 500-mile minimum, adds 1st-checked bag fee.

We were at dinner last night with some friends when a friend in Houston e-mailed me on the BlackBerry and asked if I knew I was in USA Today. I didn't, so we looked it up on the phone there at the table, and sure enough, last paragraph of the article, was my first response to CO Insider's initial post yesterday regarding the changes. A friend in San Francisco had seen it first, and he had sent the link to the Houston friend, who then asked me about it. Had they not seen it I probably would have missed it completely.

Weather Forecast for Hell: One Hell of a Blizzard

Even more shocking than that is the fact that I may be on the verge of booking a weekend trip to Paris in COACH :eek::eek::eek::eek:. Yes, I might end my streak of never flying on a transcontinental flight in Y, and break my cardinal rule of not changing continents unless it's in the pointy end of the plane within the next 30 days. My other half may be going to Paris in a few weeks for work, and if he does, he'll definitely be staying over the weekend, and of course I'll not be able to resist the temptation to fly over and meet him for that weekend. Well right now it looks like I'd definitely have to sit in economy for at least the return flight, if not the flight over there as well.

Night Box. It's been real today.

I had to drive back up north after TL's , so I could not partake in any hilarity.
The cheesteaks were really good , I had the special pork with sharp provolone.
yummy

Is this a reward ticket? If so, you should have no trouble finding standard J availability on a partner at some point over the next few weeks. Reward travel to Europe is where Skyteam really stands out, in my experience.

Now you have a backup choice to White House if need be. :) BTW, I forgot to ask: how did you do at the tables?

Sorry you could not make it .

BTW I thought it was crazy how people just park their car in the middle of the street to get their food

rkkwan was correct about the slight differences in my reward ticket taxes being due to slight currency valuation changes. On the dates that I made the most recent changes to my reservation, the dollar had depreciated slightly against the yen, thereby making the Japanese passenger facility charges slightly more expensive. It appears that even if you change only a domestic segment on an itinerary with international segments, all taxes and fees are reassessed on the date on which you make the change. As a result, the exchange rate difference between the dollar and yen compared to when I last modified the reservation appears to be what caused the 46 cent add-collect when I changed the DCA-DTW segment this week.

It may be an award ticket, but right now I'm also considering paying for it. If it does end up being an award ticket, there is an option that would get me there up front, and I'd only fly in Y on the return. That wouldn't be as bad, since the overnight flight would be in BusinessFirst.

You don't see it much anywhere but South Philadelphia. As Broad Street comes to the south, you will see a center strip, where there should be a median, serving as an ad hoc parking lot. This is an acceptable practice (even to the police) down there and the same thing is done on Oregon in front of Tony Luke's.

Hartmann Sep 6, 2008 9:46 pm

We tried to stop by the counters at PHL after dropping off our rental car and the kiosks there had a message saying that the eServiceCenter is open 3:30am to 3:15pm.

We thought that was strange considering there are 5:30 and 6pm flights from PHL.

Hartmann Sep 6, 2008 10:05 pm

Thought I would post this about the PDA site...

I checked this earlier today and found that 11 out of 16 seats were filled up front on flight 1077. Three were upgrades and one guy didn't have a seat assignment.

I was #9 on the list.

I check again just a minute ago and the guy without a seat is removed from the list but it still shows 11 of 16 taken. The seat map shows 6 seats open up front though, and earlier it was only showing 5.

Strange.

There are other places in Philly (that I have a feeling you haven't been to - W. Philly/N. Philly) that also have people parking in the median. On Oregon in front of Tony Luke's yes... keep going west on Oregon, and you'll see it there too. The lack of parking in these areas of the city, and the people just park like that. I was amazed the first time I saw it, and didn't see parking tickets on cars.

ConciergeMike Sep 7, 2008 6:46 am

And Philly has a reality show dedicated to the Parking Authority. There's a punchline there, but I just woke up.
