Where has SBM12 been? I just looked at his latest post and it was on 8/31.

Mine's not too bad. Most weeks I leave sometime on Monday, work on site with a client Tuesday-Thursday, and fly home either Thursday night or Friday morning. I typically know my schedule months, if not years in advance, with very few last minute changes. And I almost never have to do a business trip that involves a weekend. In fact, with some clients I can leave Monday evening and return Thursday night after work, so I'm only gone three nights, and have a nice, long Friday-Monday evening weekend at home.

And there's no office to go to either, unless you count the desk in the guest bedroom in our loft, where I sit when I'm doing work and I'm not at a client.

Tonight I used tilapia. Whole Foods had some very good fresh tilapia in stock at a decent price this afternoon.

Actually the meal came out quite good. It would have been better with the fresh corn tortillas I used to use back in Houston, but the flour tortillas I got at Whole Foods weren't half bad, and were about 20 times better than the ones the crappy Kroger down the street from our place has.

I was kind to my partner's tastes though and toned down the spiciness in my black bean recipe just a little. He prefers his Mexican/Southwestern cooking a little milder than I do.

He's traveling. I subscribe to his blog and he's been in Turkey.

There's a company here in Houston, that shall remain nameless, that is quite large, and I know for a fact that their people fly to Europe and Asia in coach unless they are using miles or $$$ to upgrade themselves. Their CEO wouldn't fly that way, but the people working for him are to fly in the lowest class of service available.

My company is generally that way. All tickets are to be issued in Y, although occassionally something slips through the cracks. ;);) And if you do find a fare in the pointy end of the plane that's cheaper than Y, you can often call and convince the travel agent to let you book it because you're saving the company/client money by sitting up front. Every once in a while CO's R fares allow this. ^^^

Quite the opposite for me, travel is completely unplanned until the last minute and most of the time requires leaving Sunday and returning late Friday.

We are supposed to buy the cheapest tickets available no matter the carrier and can only upgrade ourselves using miles when the fare class is approved by a manager (found that out today).

You guys have it really tough. The only job that I ever had working for someone else was the beginning of my traveling and that company simply bought a first class ticket for you when you needed to go. Since I was going quite a bit, I did get accustomed to the better life and it was quite a shock to me when I started my own thing and needed to pay for the tickets out of my own pocket while doing the startup. So I bought some coach seats and the very first trip in the back told me that this was not for me. The rest is upgrading history.

Eh, not really. My signature line should give you an idea of exactly how often I sit in an economy seat, despite buying all those economy class fares.

When it comes to international travel, I've not had to do any for work. All my international travel has been personal to date. And let's just say I've never flown across an international border in economy, with the exception of two flights to/from YUL on ERJs. But when it comes to changing continents, I've always managed to do it in the pointy end of the plane.

You wouldn't happen to have a white chicken chili recipe that I could try for myself?

Dupe, sorry

Before I close up for the night, I am checking with ConciergeMike to find out whether he has yet managed to clear a few hours Friday evening for Tony Luke's.

Negative, Ghostrider. I tried everything and it's no dice. Sucks too, because I made the plans not expecting a schedule change.

fozz what happened to your post count? It seems to be really low.

I've only been out of "lurking" mode for a few months and since I don't randomly post on OMNI, the post count isn't quite padded yet...

You looking for me. :D

I'm in the Istanbul airport now, about to head out and on to England for a couple days before hitting up the BRS-EWR flight home on Monday.

We had a fantastic time in Turkey. I can't say enough good things about the place, even with the language issues we had. Lots of pantomiming got us past more than one sticky situation. So did just hoping for the best. And we weren't disappointed.

I'll be back to my usual ridiculous posting frequencies early next week.
